Does anyone know if the latest WDTV Live streaming media player works with DNS sites such as unblock us or playmo ?

I've saw some people say it does work, but other people say the latest firmware is locked to specific countries. This would mostly be for netflix.

Thanks.

The SMP will work with any DNS or VPN site and it's very easy to set up to do this.

The newer firmware is region locked to specific countries, but that is to disable services that are not available in your country. So if you're in the UK the Hulu app won't show and US users won't get iPlayer. (There is a way around this though).

As far as Netflix is concerned as long as you are in a country where the firmware allows the Netflix app to be shown, (ie: USA, Canada, UK and Ireland), then you'll have no problems with it or using a DNS redirect service like Unblock-us or Unotelly.
I use a SMP in the UK with Unotelly's DNS service to access the Netflix USA service and it works without any problems at all.

If your going to illegally access US TV why not just torrent it and then burn £11 a month?

It's not illegally accessing US TV. It's no more illegal than people in Canada accessing terrestrial US TV, people in Spain watching UK satellite or a non-US resident having a US iTunes account.
As far as Netflix is concerned, when you sign up for a Netflix account it's a personal account which entitles you to use the Netflix service in any territory where Netflix offer a service, though the content is regionalised to the territory your in. Netflix have also stated that they are aware that people outside of the US are using VPN's and DNS redirects to access Netflix US content and have said they won't block them, and have no future plans to stop anyone from doing it. (This has a lot to do with overseas US military personel and US expats being able to access the service)

When using a VPN or DNS you still are paying for a service and just spoofing that service into thinking you are in a differernt geoloction than the one you actually are in, you are not stealing anything and viewing legal content directly from legal content carriers.

Using a torrent client or a download site to aquire copyrighted content however is illegal as you are illegally downloading and accessing content which has been aquired illegally, copied illegaly and which you have not paid for.

I have a WDTV Live. I thought the only way to get Hulu on it was with a US purchased WDTV. Is there another way?

For the OP, I use PlaymoTV with my WDTV and Netflix from the US still woks a treat.
