But - for me anyway, it starts with the press.
It does start with the press.

However, the need for a public enquiry into press/political class relationships is for one single purpose, to try and put to bed the mistrust of the electorate for politicians given how close to press.business they have become.

The enquiry into Murdochs empire didnt need to be public, other than it made great theatre, Brooks Coulson et al have their day in court over the phone hacking, this is entirely a vehicle to placate the electorate(no doubt like the expenses scandal we will get a couple of sacrificial lambs at some point too)

And thats only needed because the political class' own behaviour has led to it being perceived as corrupt.

Adam Boulton gave nick Robison a lovely Swipe about his close relationship with Cameron.

Leveson won't change anything. Politicians court the media and will continue to do so in order to gain the power they desire. You would be a poor political operator if you didn't. You think Labour will decide to not court any papers during the next election?

Went to the pub the other night and overheard people talking about Greece, Spain, the Euro crisis, Euro 2012 and other things. No surprise that there was no mention whatsoever about Leveson or phone hacking, I haven't encountered anyone yet who is following the inquiry, I guess they have far more important things to worry about and quite right too.

Outside the Westminister bubble the story isn't gaining any traction.

It's not a story, it is an investigation in to press/government/an others, relationships. If parliament and inquiries only deal with what is talked about in the pub are we to expect debates on big brother, the speed camera down the road and who was fouled or what decision was wrong in the football?

Is that the same Adam Boulton who is married to Anji Hunter, Blair's former spin doctor?

Its got loads of traction with me - I've waited over a quarter of a century to see Murdoch called to account;

and I haven't been to Westminster for years, not since a lobby in Portcullis House against $ky driving a coach and horses through the Smith MacLaurin agreement

Multitasking maybe? We all do it. Talking to someone about subject X whilst we are thumbing through papers because we've thought about something that might arise later on subject Y.

Leveson doesn't seem satisfied with Cameron - he is not letting this go at all - Cameron's face is the colour of a tomato at the moment

Cameron dodging the question Leveson was asking - and M'Lud doesn't look impressed

Cameron is falling apart

Indeed and we still have to resolve the issue that one of Brown or Murdoch can't be saying what actually happened.

Jay at the moment though is scenting blood around Cameron. We are back to notes that people don't remember and people with biases assumed to be operating without them and questions about lack of judgement or motives that are improper.

The really bright white background doesn't help at all. It's giving me a headache.

I was thinking it was hot in there and that explained the shinyness - but no one else is sweating or red.........

Its a new experience for Cameron. PMs never now answer questions at PMQs and they stick to soundbites and evade questions everywhere else - but here he actually gets asked real questions with follow up and gets asked again if he avoids answering. Its a novel experience.

Yes Cameron in a lot of trouble - he didn't really answer M'Lud's last question - and this is a PM who looks very uncomfortable and is becoming increasingly defensive

Been a nightmare for Cameron here hasn't it - Jay is asking questions that I think he is finding very difficult to answer

He is the only person I can think of..(I'm sure others will correct me if I'm wrong ) who has interrupted Lord Leveson whilst he is talking in his cool measured tones...he is not used to playing second fiddle.

Cameron learnt that skill from watching the master of that particular art.....namely Gordon Brown!

Beginning to, the whole thing has been a charade from start to finish. The only way to look at it is as one big joke. Yesterday's was Salmond who believes the Observer hacked his bank account in 1999 to find out what he bought in a toy shop. Unfortunately he wasn't asked if his bank account was in the Cayman Islands where the owners of the Observer have ties.

This is far more informative than any PMQs session.

Not sure what that says of Cameron or Milliband.
