Revamped PCC should have power to levy fines of up to £1m - says Lord Black, representing industry.

Difference between Lord Hunt's personal PCC submission and Lord Black's mass of detail demonstrates that Hunt has been sidelined

Leveson site very flaky at the moment; everyone wants to look at the Module 4 submissions I guess.

no no, you can't express your opinions, after all, these "inquiries" are based on the idea that the internet doesn't exist, and the media landscape is that of the 1950's. murdochs control 90% of all media and newspapers and people have no where else to go right?

its just a farce.

News Corporation’s directors facilitated a “cover-up” of phone hacking and bribery at the News of the World and allowed the company to forge ahead with a “whitewash” inquiry, a US lawsuit has claimed.

Jeremy Hunt says that £3.4m has been spent so far, with over £1m expected to go on legal fees for barristers

Didn't the Savile Bloody Sunday Inquiry cost something like £190M ?

from the article, certainly in the ink & paper version
Quote:
Compared to the Saville inquiry into the Bloody Sunday shootings in Derry, which cost £195m, of which around £32m went to laywers, Leveson is a bargain.

The overwhelming case for plurality
This is not just about Rupert Murdoch – allowing media power to be concentrated in the hands of a few multibillionaires will impoverish society

says the guardian as if they didn't exist. all the murdochs are keeping them from publishing and finding readers? its all based on a false premise that pretends there is no bbc or internet or global media now. its a convenient case to make when you are trying to muzzle your ideological foes. it was esp funny when people complained about all the newspapers murdoch owns, not noticing decline in circulation across the board of said media, and then they claim they have undue influence? its like the arguments aren't based in any reality...

seeing on BBC news Leveson is going to explain all about that call to the Cabinet office RE: Goves remarks etc.

Leveson can face one fact worse thing he did was allow so many of the cabinet to become core participants. Its been used to maxium effect making this last module almost pointless the hassle this has caused the goverment If he really thinks anything he suggests will make it into any law?the only thing murdoch power is over no party is going to risk getting cosy with him again incase all this blowsup again.

Leveson's gripe is with the the Mail on Sunday for saying that he was considered resigning.

Ironic that he has the power to telephone Downing Street when the press gets under his skin.

Yet he is supposed to be presiding over an impartial look at things.

Peter Riddle told to slow down, which he did for all of 10 seconds, but then carried on at high speed.
