10,000 people a week would disagree (ok, that figure is from a long time ago but it's the only one I could find with a quick google).

Imagine how gutting that would be! You win the jackpot and take home £700!

You find most people don't play until the jackpot starts creeping towards £100 million on the Euromillions. Then everyone thinks it's a good idea.

Very interesting. Would certainly like to see if that's still the case now.

On any of the lotteries why do people start playing when there is a rollover? Is, say £4m / £5m (on the lotto) not sufficient a win to make people want to play?

I never used to do the lottery. We did a bonus ball pot at my old work and sometimes won £10 or so. I recently started doing euromillions when it's big draw. At my new work we do syndicate on euromillions. The uk winner still hasn't come forward yet, we don't check our numbers until Monday so it may be us......

I don't play the UK Lotto, it's pointless. The chances of winning the jackpot are highly unlikely.
I play the Irish Lotto in the bookies. I don't play to win millions. I've won twice so far, at the end of last year and again in March this year. First win was £302 and the second was £602.

Just to clear up a confusion... How do you play the Bonus ball on the Lotto?

Can you not do it when playing online?

Same here. I daren't change my numbers, though, in case they come up. Anyway, someone's got to win and so it might as well be me or you.

I don't think it is an official lottery game. It is something that is organised between workmates, clubs etc.

The prize money if it were an official lottery game would be so small as there are only 49 numbers that it could be.

Once in an absolute blue moon I might play it. It's been that long since I played it I can't even remember which year it was.

Are you sure, a game where you just have to predict the bonus ball, between 1 and 49? It is played with the regular lotto game as it has always been.

Theres no option to select the bonus ball at all. I've seen nothing on the site to suggest though my ticket is not part of this weekends £4million prize fund.

I know some friends who do this - you buy up a number 1 to 49 for 52 weeks, each week on the Saturday Lotto whoever has the bonus number drawn gets the weeks cash, some people may win more than once a year and others just lose their cash!

You don't select the bonus ball on the lotto game. It only comes into play if you have 5 (of the 6) numbers that you have chosen correct. So take last Wednesday for example, if you got 5 numbers correct you would have won £471,240 (220 winners). However, if you got the 5 plus the bonus ball then you would have won £754,005 (5 winners). Of course if you were one of the two lucky people to get all 6 straight away you would have won £2,450,516 (and you would have no interest in the bonus ball !!).

Then, sorry but I don't understand, if I don't select the bonus ball? How do I possibly match it? I get the 5 of 6 numbers rule but if I can't physically pick the number...

Hang on... is it simply if one of my 6 numbers comes up as the bonus ball? One last chance to match 6? Has the penny dropped?
