Who is the most talented popstar atm?
After seeing a thread concerning Rihanna, I thought we should have a more positive thread!
![]() So who do you think is the most talented popstar out atm? Please try to be objective and give a couple of reasons as well please ![]() Imo its Lady GaGa, I think she's a great songwriter and is also a good singer and dancer. She's got a character to look up to for fans and an aura of mystery around her, which I think is the whole point of popstars. She puts on an amazing performance all the time while singing live and has been called the centre of her marketing team which has completely utilized the internet to maximize her presence both in the charts and in the media. Whilst she isn't my favourite artist, I do enjoy her music and her persona fascinates me and I just generally am impressed by her on most levels. |

Marina and the Diamonds- her use of alter ego and story arc and complete rinvention from indie pop star to ''Electra Heart'' shows true pop imagination her music unlike Gaga backs up as does her live vocal she is everything a pop star should be fun fearless and fresh.
I would then say in terms of lyricist Luara Marling only 21 and yet hr body of work is outstanding. I would then say Florence for the same reasons as Marina but there is a mysticism and spirituality in her that i love and her lyrics again like poetry. |

I don't know if I can say the most talented because of course it's subjective and someone will only disagree but I add another vote to Marina and the Diamonds.
She writes all her material, plays piano, keyboard and the organ. Has co-produced material, produced all of her pre mainstream material including a whole album and an EP. She's carved out a visual project known as "The Archetypes", with each video bursting with symbolism and hidden meanings, along with a set of portraits displayed on her Tumblr which she shot herself. She really "gets" the Pop game, a very intelligent lady too. |

In terms of the full package, I'd agree with Gaga.
She's got a great versatile voice, writes/co-writes all her (and sometimes, others) music and now co-produces everything too, she plays the piano/keyboard/keytar and has begun playing the guitar on tour as well, plus there's the visual side of things which I'd consider a talent in itself. Her weakness is dancing, but somehow manages to pull that off too. I'd wager she'll shape up to be a decent actress as well, if she choses to pursue that. Particularly musical theatre. |

Plan B.
Writes, produces, raps, sings, different genres (soul/dubstep/motown/hip hop/rap/urban), great lyrics ('Ill Manors'), directs his own music videos, plays instruments and then aside from the music side he also wrote, directed and produced a movie which he done the soundtrack to. Plus he tackles issues everyone else is afraid to tackle ('Ill Manors') while other pop stars tackle the old cliches about self empowerment. |

Im gonna say Beyonce, her voice is just so powerful and versatile, she can do emotional power ballads (Halo, Irreplaceble), or fast dance numbers (Crazy in love, Single Ladies, Run the world), she is always so diverse, she changes it up with every album, she'll release an full of RnB ballads and then an album with pop songs, she is diverse and she does so much for charity, and my God can she put on a show! She interacts with the crowd so well and she dances like a mad woman! She also has a lot of writing credits (she's had criticism in the past about the validity of these but im willing to give her the benefit of the doubt). The true popstar package imo.

Without question Beyonce. She can do any genre of music and constantly switches it up. She can sing and dance better than any other popstar out there.

Lana Del Rey if she fits the pop catagory. The songs and leaks that keep popping out on Youtube are incredible. She really can write good, very deep and meaningfull tunes and has a great career ahead of her. I'm very excited to see where her journey takes us next. I don't think we have seen even half of what she can do yet. Everything up to this point has been a warm up.

Well I think most popstars are talented with the exception of a few however I think that Jessie J and Rihanna are the two that really stand out for me atm. JJ because she is so versatile and can do all sorts of genre's I also like the fact that she writes songs that have a story/meaning in a pop song instead of the fact she wants to have sex with this person etc... I mean the contrast between Do it like a dude and Who you are, you wouldn't think it was the same person.
Rihanna...she's amazing ok she might not be the best singer in the world but she's one of the most diverse and versatile popstars out there. Every album has a different sound & feel and she makes music that sounds nothing like anyone else's. I also think Beyonce and Katy Perry are worth a mention. I also don't think you can compare Adele to gaga, JJ, Rihanna etc as she is a different type of artist. |

Not that successful, I know, but she's a great performer, writes her own stuff and shows that pop music can be intelligent and interesting as well as catchy and fun. |
