Taio Cruz - TY.O era
SexiRokStarr
09-06-2012
Why is Taio's latest album such a flop? I mean I don't personally like this album, I prefer the Rokstarr/Departure albums but his music fits in with the current trend and he's getting airplay.

Hangover flopped in most countries sales wise but did ok in the charts however it did good in Australia as it was certifies 4x Platinum but didn't make any impact in UK or USA.

Trouble Maker did ok the UK but flopped basically everywhere else and the third single is doomed really from success.

The album was released in December last year in some countries and flopped in most territories, here it's chart positions:

Australia - 97
Austria - 36
Dutch land - 100
Germany - 28
Poland - 69
Switzerland - 15

The album has been delayed UK and US release until December this year, bad move.

He just isn't an album seller and if i was head of his record label, i would be careful with what money i would spend on him because his last two albums were hardly money makers. He can get himself a hit or two, but financially, he isnt a popstar you would want trying to make you money.

I like Rokstarr and Departure but his new stuff is really quite awful. Horrible music.

I have to agree I really liked his earlier stuff and yes I admit I have bought his recent singles but I just feel he is another artist thats jumped the bandwagon of "dance" music. On his earlier releases I preferred the dance remixes (as well as the original tracks) but I don't know where its went wrong. I hope once this "trend" goes he goes back to his "roots" of his first album - I am a fan of him still but I just wish that all these artists just stop doing "dance" its become so annoying I myself feel like actually switching off from music

On a brighter note I wonder if it could be the lyrics in his songs!

EDIT: above post I remember earlier this year I thought his new album was out - I thought about march? surprised its been held back to end of year now

Yes, the lyrics to 'Hangover' make me want to cut my ears off with rusty scissors.

See with me my problem regarding the new releases I only play them maybe a few times after download (ie release week) but then I don't play them I just go back to his earlier stuff ... heck I thought the dance remixes of his earlier stuff was well better than the stuff he has released now LOL!

Yeah, he can do dance music well. Dynamite, Crazy Girl and others are great. His new songs are just poor quality and possibly the most unimaginative of any artist out there atm.

See I think when he done "dynamite" "d$rty picture" (taking the piss out of title as MTV/Box and radio censored that) idiots! as I digress LOL yes his new stuff just seems to be ok at start and just become annoying quick

His earlier stuff did not sound the same I think its been more recent it has became that very thing sadly .. more surprised why no radio or "entertainment" ever go back to the early days of these artists but I guess they have to be "current"

Taio's albums usually don't sell well. It's nothing unusual.

I think his songs are very generic mostly, but I do like Dirty Picture.
