I'm not a vegetarian at all. I love meat. But when it comes to meat-based products such as burgers and sausages, especially the latter, I much prefer the meat-free alternative to the real thing. I find the meat ones far too greasy and they often end up giving me terribly indigestion and heartburn. And, unless you're willing to pay for the higher quality ones, the lower-end budget ranges are quite disgusting and are rarely ever not swimming in a litre of their own fat and grease when you cook them.

Anyone else the same?

Quorn burgers are ok, but there is not a chance I would prefer them to a big juicy beef burger. They are not as nice flavour wise or texture wise, same goes for sausages. I only eat them now and again so don't have to worry about substituting for other, far less enjoyable alternatives.

Can you cook quorn burgers medium rare? I admit some of them taste nice but they are no comparison to the real thing.

Quorn takes hardly any cooking tbh, it's more of heating through or they'll dry out.
Best sausage IMO are Tesco's finest Mediterranean ones in silver bags in the freezer/ vegetarian section. They about £2.99 for 6 or 8 - but worth it, I've been veggie for 44 yrs and they're the best ever! They're substantial enough for the BBQ and for casseroles as they're juicer than Quorn ones ( which I also use btw). Linda Macartney's sausages have changed their recipe for the better too. They even do bags of king prawns for veggies now!
But Tesco's again have the best burgers in their green boxes - freezer, 8 in a box. You can usually mix 2 products for £3. They also have falafel new to their range, lovely! But their burgers are best all round. I even microwave 1 for 1min 30 secs & they're great, less calories & quick, but best for BBQ use. I don't like Quorn burgers, unless I'm desperate.

Btw, my meat/fish loving husband loves all these.

I'm not vegetarian but I'm eating less and less meat. Some good suggestions here, I'm going to give them a go.

Tesco's mexican style bean burgers are delicious. Asda used to do really delicious vegetarian sausage rolls but they've stopped now.

Bean burgers sound nice. Waitrose do some delicious mushroom and chestnut burgers in the frozen section, they are much nicer than any quorn product I've found and pretty good calorie wise as a bonus.

I used to love Burger King's bean burger so I wanted a similar one from the shops. I've tried a few and no one beats Tesco, imo, it has a slight kick to it.

I'll try the Waitrose ones as I also shop from Ocado. I don't really like quorn stuff.

I'm not a big fan of Quorn because it has an unpleasant aftertaste. The best Quorn product was these pieces in a BBQ saucy coating, but they haven't sold it for about 5 years now.

I find Redwood to have the best meat-free products. Their Organic Merguez sausages are amazing and the nuggets are so moreish i could eat a whole packet in one sitting.

Taifun does these Wiener hotdogs that are amazing; taste just like the real thing, just without the hog anus. Best way to cook them is to boil them in water, and they come out so succulent.

I noticed them too.

Might try a prawn curry with them.
