Oh I think it'd be a garauntee he wont be out first week. Surely the Westlife fanbase is TOO huge for that to happen (They've been around forever, so they've had ages to build up a fanbase that size). I suspect fanbase alone will be more than enough to carry him through for a while.

If he's awful (Lets say he's the worst of the bunch), he'd have the Westlife fanbase + the comedy voters fanbase. If he's middle of the road (+middle of the leaderboard), he'll have his own fans + underdog voters scrambling to keep him safe (since we know by now those in the middle tend to be in far more danger than those at the bottom) and if he's brilliant and ends up top of the leaderboard, or around there, he'll most likely be easily safe with both judges points AND public votes.

It honestly wouldn't surprise me if he managed to get right through to the final stages, and if not, he'll probably last a good few weeks. But I'll be completely and utterly shocked if he were eliminated within the first few weeks. For the most part, it seems even those that vote on dance ability alone don't really step up their voting until later on in the series.

I really don't think you'd have anything to worry about.

I really hope he does end up doing it. Whilst I wouldn't necessarily call myself a "fan" of Westlife, I've always quite liked them. They all come across as genuinely nice people that never let the fame go to their heads. The only way I could see him being cost votes is if he had an air of (Can't believe I'm saying this word! LOL) smugness or arrogance to him, and I just can't see that. Then again, I don't follow Westlife, or what they do, quite enough to understand their individual personalities.

I'd say his best bet would be if he were just like Harry. The one everybody just ASSUMES will be hugely popular going into it, then slightly overshadowed dance-ability-wise for the first few weeks, before creeping up and hitting us with THAT dance that everybody says puts him right in contention and has everybody sitting up watching.

Pairing him with Ola or Flavia would be an added bonus, since I think they're both popular pros with their own individual fanbases too.

It's exciting though and I personally would love to see him take part.

I agree, I would be surprised if he went early on too, but you can't ever be too sure.

I am a pretty big Westlife fan and I have to say in the 14years, I've never seen him say anything remotely arrogant or smug or mean. He doesn't seem like that kind of person. I get the impression that he is genuinely a lovely guy. I'm thinking back to all the interviews I've seen and I can't think of even one thing that could be even interrupted as such. I will be majorly shocked if he was any different on the show.

*cross fingers* he does do it, him or Shane would be brilliant on this show.

I agree with your post FR - particularly the bit in bold...I think we can safely say he's a good mover because someone posted a clip near the start of this thread so I think it's a given that he won't be out in the first week and if he does the show he'll be one of the big signings so it'll be in the producers best interests to have him there towards the end.

I'm not a WL fan either but all the lads have always come across as really lovely when they're on ITT and other shows.......and I'd be voting for him every week if he was with Flavia.........obviously I'm biased in wanting that pairing but I'd wish him well whomever he's partnered with and look forward to seeing how he does on the show.

I think Nicky has a much larger fan base than a welsh boxer , even if he is a awfull dancer which I doubt very much I can see him sailing through to semi finals at least

you never know until he steps onto the dance floor

I wrong assumed Michelle Williams would be a good dancer just because she was in Destinys Child

Nicky might be the same but yes, Westlife have a huge following

Shall we just hand him the trophy now?

Someone posted a video of him doing a dance routine with Westlife on stage , he definately has rhythm . Was a basic routine but looked pretty good .
That trophy pretty much depends on what other celebs are on scd this yr . I think Ronnie OSulivan would be very popular , if he can dance you never know

My daughter has been a fan of Westlife and especially Nicky since she was 6 and she's 20 now. We met him in Heathrow last year and he was absolutely lovely. She will bankrupt me voting for him. Having seen him on stage it looks like he could be a good dancer but you don't know until you see him on the floor.

If I remember right, Arlene said that singers being taught routines to dance to their songs was a relatively low level of training.
Nicky seems very relaxed when dancing and he's doing different variations of the same move and it still looks good, so that's why I think he will look very natural dancing. Quite a bit different to learn to dance with and lead a professional around the floor, so it just shows that he has potential and experience of learning a number of short routines. I'd say he looks slightly better at this stage than Rachel did with S-Club.

I think Pasha said that being taught via dance lessons a different genre of dancing to a good level can also be a problem if you have then to 'unlearn' some of the training for ballroom dancing.
