If you mean one says Freeview and the other Freeview+ then in most instances the + means recording and stuff like pause live TV.

Whether that means the + TV can record a different channel to the one you are watching though is another matter.

HOW would one find out if the recorder would record another program that i was not watching...??

Are you sure you don't mean Freeview HD?

Post a model number or link.

Make and model numbers of both TVs would help.

Freeview+ normally refers to PVRs i.e. http://www.freeview.co.uk/Freeview-P...-Plus-Products

AFAIK Samsung do not make a TV with a built-in PVR/hard drive

From what I can see Samsung themselves do not describe the TV as Freeview+ so that would suggest that wherever you saw that description was a mistake.

There are some TVs, including Samsung models, that can record to a USB drive. But there is no mention that I can see that this TV is one of those.

Also neither of those sets seems to have a Freeview HD tuner, which would certainly put me off buying either.

well the original concept of getting a bigger TV, was initially just to watch TV programs on, via the built in free-view in the set. now will either of these two TV's be able to let me or anyone else watch all the channels available via free view????

You'll be able to watch the Freeview channels as long as they are available in your area. You won't be able to watch any of the HD channels though.

If they have a Freeview-HD tuner then yes. The + refers to a pvr's capability to record a programme by selecting it from the epg. It allows all the programmes in a series to be recorded with a single reservation and allows the broadcaster to control when the recording starts and stops to cater for late schedule changes. Neither are relevant to a TV.

You're better of getting a separate Freeview+ PVR (HD) to go with the TV rather than relying on the TV's tuner anyway so don't really worry if the TV doesn't get HD. Having the PVR makes a lot more difference than a better TV.
