Just shows the dire state of the music industry. Alexandra is a better singer than everyone else mentioned in the OP. It's a shame that people feel the need to bring her down and try to reduce her to nothing, have all the laughs you want now, but things can and will change.

Well done Gary Barlow and Cheryl who both had alot of publicity spots on TV to preview their singles. Alexandra and Marcus didn't have the Voice or any other campaign with a large budget to promote their singles. To be honest, I'm not sure they know how to market Marcus, the current single isn't that great. I think Alexandra needs Calvin Harris or a trip to the states to find a great catchy tune to return to the top of the charts. Having a great voice doesn't always guarantee long term success, you need great songs and hot producers to generate the hits. Sing is a great single and CMN very catchy too..

Gary & Cheryl were part of the Jubilee concert = massive exposure.
I'm not surprised by their No1s tbh although I thought 'Sing' was absolutely dire when I heard it  It has the emotional hook, very powerful. |

Poor Alex. It's a tragic week for her. Not only did she bombed the charts with HOH but also managed to score one of biggest downfalls this year with LIG.
Alex is done with this era, I think which is a shame because she didnt deserve it. I mean please Tulisa made it with no voice and awful song and Alex finished like that.... |

Alexandra has more talent than Gary? In her dreams maybe?!
Gary writes (14 #singles including Sing), he sings and he plays piano. He sells out his concert tickets in minutes (solo and of course with TT). He has also won 6 Ivor Novello Awards and a Q award for his songwriting. Oooh and my favorite, he is Chris Martin's hero. To compare him to Alexandra is an insult to him.Cheryl on the other hand, can't believe this chick sells music. She can't sing to save her life. She's all looks no talent. I love Gaz but what was he thinking singing with her at the jubilee. UGH! That was painful. |

Cheryl mentoring anyone is ridiculous.
I can not believe people buy her CDs. She makes Brit look like Whitney Houston. Gaz on the other hand, is super popular. He might be hated on this forum but the guy is loved by many, many people. He's got the talent and the looks. TT fans waited for 20 yrs for them to come back. After their comeback, they picked up more younger fans. Gaz is experiencing a career high right now. He's being called for solo performances left, right and center. His songs are doing well. He's looking gorgeous as hell. TT are also performing at the Olympics. I don't think u can compare Gary's success to these newbies. He's been around for a long time. He's got a lot of people behind him this time around because he went through some dark moments and fought his way back to the top. |

Wow at the Cheryl hate.....no one mocked Kylie all those years.
cheryl can sing....just not as well as some. No one can deny she can carry off a song, she''s a confident and great performer and she is not a singer singer she is more a performer, and as we have seen with her recent performances she has yet to disappoint. her solo career has been one impressive run. |

She can promote a song but she can't carry it because she can't sing it. Her solo career has been media hype with a few performances and bland interviews. Congrats to Gary he deserves a solo number one after all the years he's sang live in the music business.

Good for Cheryl just because she may not belt out ballads doesnt mean she cant sing. Shes a performer and has alot of loyal fans. I have never liked Alexandra so that means nada!! to me,
