Don't you hate it when you walk past someone, and you smile at them but they don't smile back?

No, because I don't know what's going on in their life. I may have cheered them up a little though so that's ok

No, not really. You have no idea what's going on in other people's lives - they might have a very good reason for not smiling. Some moron tried to chat me up on the train the other day and got all huffy when I didn't respond. I couldn't be bothered to explain that I was on my way home after having spent the day registering my father's death and comforting my distraught mother.
This is the food and drink forum, by the way. |

If you smile at a lot of people, you will get a lot of smiles back, so what's the point in getting narked about the few who don't smile back?
As has been said, other folk could be going through a bad time and have no real interest in smiling at randomers. And seeing as this is the food and drink forum, maybe they don't smile back because they know they've got food stuck in their teeth.

Deleted because I'm just too much of a miserable cow to be posting on forums at the moment.
