I watched Fear her last night and it got me thinking that with the 2012 olympics starting soon Fear her will aswell.
It's funny because it first aired in 2006 and now the olympics are almost here, time surely does fly.

Fear Her has been retconned by Good as Gold -probably in the rebooted universe, the Isolus never came to Newham!

Rubbish. Fear Her is an actual episode and Good as Gold is a fluff story. Obvously it is instantly negated by Fear Her.

And Moffat said since the reboot everything that was erased came back and there are no errors now. Although I can't find the exact quote.

Sorry, to OP, you're right! Only seems like yesterday I finished watching Fear Her and was excited for Army of Ghosts. Would be good if the episode could be edited like Star Wars movies are so that it uses the correct Torch etc.

Both are TV stories, so the newer material takes priority. However, I don't see the contradiction?

I thought it was more everything has come back except the things I don't want back.


In Fear Her it is the 10th Doctor who carries the Torch on the last stage (around the stadium) in Good as Gold it's not.

in 2006 when I was 15, I was really curious for 2012 and seen 'fear her' in that year. time just flew by

err, sorry to bump an old thread, but buoyed by realising The Unicorn and the Wasp was not as bad as I thought it was I decided to give Fear Her a chance as well because I'd always avoided it previously. It just seemed a cheap gimmick tied into the Olympics.

Fear Her was on 'Watch', earlier today. I saw it at 4pm. My Mother said to me that it wasn't the best episode of 'New Who'. She also said that it felt schmaltzy and horrible.

I would say, yes, there were some good bits, but not so good bits too.

Fear Her is one of the worst episodes of Dr Who, old or new.

That and the peter Kay episode I simply cant watch.
When a few of moffats episodes got a panning nothing comes close to the above mentioned imho

I heartily agree! Easily the worst of the RTD era and up there with Let's Kill Hitler, The Doctor and the Wardrobe (or whatever it was called), Victory if the Daleks and a couple of others as the lowest of the low of new Who.

I'd rather watch Love & Monsters than A Good Man Goes To War.

You think so? A Good Man Goes To War is DEFINATELY up there, as being one of the best episodes of "New Who". Much better than the Marc Warren one or the Absorbaloff episode.

I just love the scene with the Doctor getting his cot out, and River revealing that she's Amy's daughter Melody. So sweet and touching at times!

Me too. Ditto for many of Moffat's more laden arc-heavy episodes. Moffat's usually great but when he misses the mark he's way off.

Sorry. I made a mistake! I was trying to type my comment quickly. I meant the Isolus Olympics one and the Absorbaloff episode! Both Marc Warren and the Absorbaloff are in Love and Monsters.

Actually if you took the Absorbaloff out and replaced it with a better villain then Love & Monsters wasn't that bad. Marc Warren and the Band were endearing they just didn't have a good enough story.

It was a rush-job. Originally they were going to make it in Series 3, but it got pulled forward into Series 2 after a story written by Stephen Fry got canned, and there was no time to polish up Fear Her's script. On top of that, there was even less money for special effects than usual, as it had all been allocated to the Impossible Planet/Satan Pit two-parter and the series finale.

It's weird to think that the 2012 Olympics have been and gone when they seemed so far away when Fear Her was broadcast.

But yeah, not an episode I am in a rush to watch again.

I see my series link on Watch also recorded that. I think I watched it, but I fast forwaded all the abzorbaloff bits, so irritating .... and I like Peter Kay!

I shall see Fear Her again, sometime. Not for a few months though.

I just love to see David Tennant in everything. He's such a talented actor. My favourite TV programme apart from DW, that David is in, is Takin' Over The Assylum, although Broadchurch was good, as was the BBC2 drama series Single Father.

So pleased DT will be back as DI Alec Hardy in Broadchurch this year! I love a good mystery drama, me!

I love watching Jonathan Creek, Inspector Morse, Lewis, Sherlock, plus old episodes of the Bill from the late 80s to the late 90s. Before The Bill started to change for the worse around 2000.

I've got the 1988/1989 episodes on various DVDs, released by 'Network' as seperate volumes. There have been 7 so far. They have just brought out the early 1990 episodes.
