Who do you think it will be? United States or China?

The predictions in the virtual medal tables say USA but you never know what form the Chinese will have.

They will dominate diving, table tennis and weightlifting especially the women's categories.

It should be closer than last time with perhaps the Chinese shading it, but they will need to dominate many of the sports like in Beijing. Badminton, Gymnastics and Shooting along with the ones already mentioned. Probably the women's side of the Games will be the decider.

China will dominate Diving, Badminton & Table Tennis. Not sure about shooting or weightlifting as I don't really follow those.

Gymnastics is one sport where they have really fallen back though. I expect the Americans to win the Women's All Around & Team. China may not even medal in the Team as Romania are going through a resurgence and Russia are strong too. On the Men's side Uchimura of Japan should win gold though it will likely be between Japan & China for Team Gold.

Im not sure I agree with you entirely about China "falling back" in gymnastics

They won 4 gold medals at the World Gymnastic Championships in Tokyo last November including the Overall Men's Team. They have been training behind closed doors as is their style and write them off at your peril

They won 9 golds at the Olympics though so to go from 9 to 4 Golds is 'falling back' in my book.
