tosh sd220 now wont play R1 discs?
evening,
Have a mates dvd player over here right now, it wont play R1 discs anymore giving a "disc playback unauthorized" message, yet it played the discs fine before? anyone got any ideas, or how to check the region settings and maybe how to change them again? thanks! |

I used to have a Tosh SD220 E, and I'm sure they need to be chipped to play non-R2 discs. There is no software hack as far I as can remember.
If it used to play non-R2 discs before, then it sounds like the chip's either playing up or has become disconnected (I remember there being some mighty-fine soldering to connect the chip up on my old one, and this might have broken off). If it was my own, I'd pop the lid off and make sure all the leads are connected. You'll have to ask what your mate's happy doing! Hope that helps. Cheeky |
