I watched it in full for the first time today!

What were her team thinking of when they decided that she should do it? I cant believe they didn't stop her. It's such a bad performance but I can't help watching it over and over again. Poor Britney though.

Welcome to 2007. It happened, get over it. She has been on 2 world tours since then and before that performance she was known as one of the best performers ever.

Britney's "team" didn't exist at this point. She was pretty much managing her own career while Jive took care of the release. Hence no promo for Blackout.

Shows what a complete train wreck she is! How can anyone possibly thing that she is talented or deserves the success she has? She is completely dead behind the eyes now and i would rather she retired for her own sake. It will be interesting seeing her on x factor, its got catastrophe written all over it!

Who are you to judge her?
If you get excitement from watching other people struggle. You need to log off the computer, go outside and get a life.

And who are you to judge me?
Get off your high horse! People will only be watching x factor to see what she comes out with!

Its not like she has had a string of brilliant performances since is it? I just think its a massive injustice that she has all this success and hasnt sang live for a good ten years!

Well i think your find she has. Shes had 2 successfull sell out world tours weather live vocals or not Britneys a performer. 2 number one albums more no1 singles. She really cameback from her personal struggles and should be admired for that. I think she has had some much better performances and i still believe she will prove alot wrong and theres a killer performance in her yet she can do better.

LEAVE BRITNEY ALONE. /Chris Crocker.

Srs: Yes, it was a mess, but she's got her shit together now so why dwell on it?

Imo that was a good performance. Great dancing no live vocals but this is Britney who expects live vocals from her she has sung live in the past and was rather good.

In other news Blackout has been inducted into the Rock and Roll hall of fame...an honour which Beyoncé's and Christina Aguilera's (Britney's remaining late 90s contempories) albums have yet to have bestowed on them.

Makes her comeback seem even better.

Genuinely thought at that point, that was the end of her. 3 fairly successful (Obviously not at the 25m+ sales that she achieved at her peak but hey, who can reach that level now?) albums, 2 world tours later and she's got herself a slot on a pretty big show in America, has more followers on Twitter than the American president and seems like she's finally reaching happiness again.

That performance was shocking, but the track is still killer. We could always look further back at her iconic performances, the Slave one, or Satisfaction/Oops or the Like a Virgin one. Or more recent, when she swept the boards with 3 awards. Let's be less selective in looking back.

As much as i hate her horrendous performance and complete lack of talent, Gimmie more is a great song! Remember the remix with T.I? I remember it being on all the time when i went out

You can always tell when Britney's detractors are feeling threatened because they always like to highlight her personal/professional lows of 2007/2008.

Most of the hype is the hype. "She's really popular" "OMG she's really popular, did you hear?" "I heard 2 people say she's popular" and the pyramid continues.

She's a complete oddity. Nobody knows why people like her. Write down the reasons... there are very few. People just... do.

Her songs.
Her personality.
Her whole story.
Her early performances.

People didn't just "hear" she was popular, she became popular with massive album sales and memorable performances.

She lost the plot, majorly and has come back.

She went from natural successor to Madonna's Queen of Pop throne, to underdog.

The 4 things I listed as why people love her, also seem to be the main reason people hate her, people go all out to shock these days and can't get more than a fleeting mention in the press, The Madonna/Britney kiss still gets frequent mentions in press about each of them, 8 years later.

Let's put this into context. VMAS 2007. Ongoing divorce/custody battle. Family selling stories to tabloids. Tabloids constantly on your back. Oh and not to mention, before she performed, some imbecile of a comedian made fun of her sons, who were.. 2/3 at the time?

I think her shitty performance is excused, mental breakdown and everything, you know? Please don't come at me with "just an excuse" etc etc. Have you known anyone who has had a mental/emotional breakdown? Yeah well imagine the whole planet watching. It takes a while to bounce back from.

It's so funny when Britney's detractors use this performance as leverage. It has the opposite effect.

Hard to believe this was five years ago! Jesus, she's made progress in her performance and just general healthiness by the looks of things and I must admit to being a fan of her recent material! A bad performance to be sure but one which I think we all know shouldn't have happened! I hope we see a composed and mature Brit on US X Factor and this era of her life can finally be closed!
