Release date = September 14, 2012.

Not really sure where this franchise can go now.

I didnt watch the latest one because the 3rd one was rubbish (thats the one with the crows right).

First two were great but they're making bits of the franchise now !

its never been like the game imo

could have been truly great if no.1 was set in an old mansion with more suspense than action

I didn't like the 3rd the first time I saw it, but I enjoyed it when I watched 1-4 recently. The 4th was an improvement.

I'd like to see some films based on the games, but I can see this particular series going on for a few more yet, so it'll be a long time coming.

4 was good, but it seemed less about the storyline and more about the fact it was 3D, a lot of films tend to do that these days, like The Final Destination. Hopefully 5 will be an improvement, but if I'm honest, I'm not sure if it will.

The second film Apocalypse is the worst in the series so far. Absolutely terrible for the most part.

First - Best one

Second - Terrible after a decent start

Third - An improvement over the second

Fourth - Saw it in 2D, apart from the messy start, better than the previous two films and had the best score music out of the lot.

I look forwards to the fifth one.

You have good taste. I agree with your assessment of all four films.

The last one seemed really short.

Maybe Jill Valentine will be in resident evil 5?

i dont know 4 was just like wtf, but they are all watchable and im a huge fan of the games.

I just hope they leave the 3D out this time there was no need to go 3D at all on the 1st place.

It is going to be in 3D. Just bought the 1-4 box-set, loved the first and forth films the best but really enjoy the whole series really.

Hunk should be the lead in 5

Failing that how about Tofu? Would be different at least

They're already talking about RE5 before SH2 has gone into production? (They're made by the sameish people, funny that in the game franchises, they're rivals xD)

I liked RE4, mostly because it took elements from the game RE5

The fifth Resident Evil film, Resident Evil: Retribution, is gearing up for a fall start date, but contrary to previous reports it sounds like the character Jill Valentine will not be back for this installment.

The one and only Ed Douglas reports over at Shock Till You Drop that while recent rumors have indicated that Valentine (played by Sienna Guillory and last seen at the end of the previous film, Afterlife) would be recast, it seems rather that Jill will be replaced by the character Ada Wong.

That news about Sienna Guillory took me completely by surprise, but looking around through other sites it seems the news is almost a month old. Also thread saying that Wentworth Miller and Ali Larter are too busy to film it, so it's just going to be Milla on her own

I'd rank them

RD1
RD4
RD2
RD3

They're popcorn films and I love them. 3 Was enjoyable the first say 45 minutes but after that it quickly lost steam.

Seriously? I thought the music was awful in Afterlife, it just sounded like someone was repeatedly bashing their head on a keyboard.

I thought the 4th film was laughably pathetic in just about every department. Probably one of the worst films i've ever sat through, i'm just glad that i only watched it on Sky and didn't pay to see it.

Christ, even the games have better storylines and acting than these films ("Don't....open...that....door"), and THAT'S saying something, lol.

Guillory confirmed on Twitter that as far as she knows she's appearing as Jill Valentine in the new movie. I'd be really disappointed if she doesn't appear after the ending of the last movie. Are Ali Larter and Wentworth Miller really not appearing? I hoped they'd be back too.

as the next film will follow on from the last, surely they would have to be in it?

Guillory's latest tweets say that Sony plan to replace her and that - thanks to fan reaction and the support of Milla Jovovich - she is meeting with Sony on Monday in a bit to persuade them to keep her.
