Why? Ste's the same self righteous grating character as him anyway. The only way I'd like to see John Paul back is with an explanation that despite him and Craig being perfect for eachother because neither attended thier sisters weddings or funerals they split up and he is here to spend some time with Brendan and become a bit more interesting.

Sadly his return would most likely become a Ste/Doug/JP triangle.

Long departed soap characters NEVER return for funerals or weddings of relatives (unless the actor IS making a brief return for whatever reason). John Paul and Craig are no different.

I personally would hate John Paul to return to be ruined as a character in HO the way it is these days. They nearly managed it last time after Craig left, when they paired him with a catholic priest years older than him! Luckily he was redeemed at the end when Craig returned for him!

It would be a bit weird seeing John Paul (with or without Craig) back in HO after all this time, as well.
His was very much a 'teen coming out' storyline originally, of course, and beautifully done, but he was 17 then, and left when he was 19.
He's 23 now. I dread what HO would do with him now! With what they did with Brendan and Ste, they'd probably have him seduce some 15 year old then beat him up a lot!

Tho us McDeaners will always thank HO for putting in subtle little moments to let us know JP and Craig were still together! The last one, as far as I know, was last July when Jacqui went missing and Myra phoned JP to ask him if she was there or he'd heard from her and Craig answered the phone!
"Hello Craig, it's Myra ... is our John Paul there?"
