tell me about it. So many people got on Verity's case because she cried and the shout of 'sympathy vote' got oh so boring but it doesn't seem to apply to anyone else. bah humbug

brain wave, thats why G4 have gone up in the polls, the sympathy vote, all the little girls and grannys must have said "oh poor lad".

And heres me thinking its Rowetta that cries at the drop of a hat.
Nothing wrong in showing some emotion though.

I agree, but at least be consistent with the criticism of it. Got well fed up with what I saw as unfair comments about Verity when others were/are doing the same.

I think to be honest they should all be given a break here.

Can anyone posting on these boards even start to imagine what it must feel like to perform for 8 million viewers? I certainly can't. Singing is a very personal thing, you are at your most 'exposed'. Add to that the drama and tension created by the producers and I would imagine the whole thing is totally overwhelming.

Agree 100% but ONLY when it's like Rowetta's tears and those tears are REALLY GENUINE!!!
G4 blokes were working those tears out....REAL hard.

Its all part of the game for the die-hard fan. You have got to criticise the rival acts for something - might as well be crying. Its no more ridiculous than some of the things on other threads. It wont make one iota of difference to those that support that act. Bring it on! Sticks and stones and all that. Verity could blub for England. So could Jonathan, Rowetta, the girls from VWS and I feel Cassie could really blub if she wanted to. You should have seen me Saturday night. Total puddle I was and I will probably do it all again this week too.

Can't agree more but where was the 'break' for Verity? She was probably the most nervous of all and she got ripped to shreds

Written like a true 100% biased fan and good for you. Jonathan has cried from the very first audition and I love him for it too.

Hear hear I've cried coming off stage, there is so much tension built up for a performance after it is over it has to go somewhere.
Would you prefer a stage full of people who didn't give a sh*t about how they did?

I can only speak personally, but for me, I just felt that Verity didn't have the 'big match' attitude that is needed by a singer. I didn't care if she cried, but if nerves affect a singer's voice, then it is no-go for me.

That said, I do think it is a shame that she got voted out on the night when she managed to get a grip on her nerves and gave a good performance.

She was never going to win I'll grant you, but I just thought the OTT reaction was uncalled for and was downright cruel. I really would have liked to hear more but TXF isn't the arena for also-rans so scrub that one. Maybe you have the 'big match' attitude but IMO it's only those that either 'know' they've got the talent or those that believe they have it that pull it off. Confidence in oneself maybe
