3 offers Unlimited European Data for £5 a day
Just read the article below which seems like very good news for smartphone users travelling to European countries.
£5 a day buys 3 customers unlimited data in all EU countries. http://www.mobiletoday.co.uk/News/21...g_service.aspx |

O2 sent me a message the other day (I've deleted it so can't get the full details) there's was 1.99 a day for x amount of mb per day and calls coming out of my contract allowance after 50p per day or something similar. About time they all did something like this.
I remember 10 years ago or so going to the US and was with t mobile at the time got there my phone connected to a t mobile signal. Tested it and all the minutes came off my free call time so I used it whenever I wanted about 7 days after returning they took all the phone calls off my free minutes and charged me for them. |

This is 'unlimited' browsing, it says you cannot stream.

£5 a day for browsing is crap value. And I dont care if other networks charge more it is still crap. You are unlikley to use more than a few mb browsing.

Indeed its good value but sneeky at the same time as even T-Mobiles £10 for 50mb for the month in some ways is better as when I'm on holiday I don't want to be using my phone all the time. Just the occasional email, imessage and web browsing.

Maps are big! I'm looking forward to trying this in the summer. I'm a bit disappointed about the tethering, but other than that it seems like a reasonable deal (especially compared to Hotel Wi-Fi). |

it actually says Just so you know, the pass was designed for browsing, so streaming may not be as good as it is on our UK network, and, tethering isn’t included.
So you can stream, but it might not be as good as you have had on the UK network (as in they cant guarantee speeds or connectivity from other networks) |

Personally, I take that to mean that it's throttled.

Plenty of folk may simply want to switch on, check emails, and thats about it. £5 is a bit steep for them, but good if you're a high user without access to wifi. |

I used the O2 allowance in France last week and went over several times, it's currently (until the new tariff in July) £1.25 for 15mb, as soon as I opened Google Maps even for short spells it went over, the sooner they release these offline maps and ability to navigate offline the better!

Your better off doing a bit of research and getting a local data Sim.

Haven't Google announced this now? I know you can already download small 10 mile radius map areas and use them offline using the Labs feature but I could only download two, not tried them yet.

The Labs feature was clearly always a first-step towards this. |

This was the thing i was talking about in the previous thread.
It's only good value for those who use data (which is a lot of people on Three). But its nowhere near good value when compared to other networks whose packages include texts and minutes as well. |

AFAIK, it's still only the 10 mile radius ones you mention. Haven't heard anything about whole countries at full street level.

Yes but £5 a day to use data IS crap value. The whole data abroad is a complete scam. I don't care if this deal is better than others it is still crap value.
