Hi All,

I have an HTC desire, and I need a low cost, but good quaility VoIP provider (ha, you might say!!).

I'll be calling India a lot, so does anyone have any recommendations? I'd need it to run on wifi & 3G.

Or am I best served by getting a 2nd mobile and getting a Lebara sim card?

Thanks!!

James

I wouldn't recommend a 3G/4G as of bandwidth issues. but this might set you back £69 http://www.sipgate.co.uk/voipshop/gigaset/n300a_ip but is much better then using a mobile phone?

Voipfone - if you thinking of buy http://www.sipgate.co.uk/voipshop/gigaset/n300a_ip
Destination: India Mobile
Cost: 2p minute (excluding VAT)

http://www.sipgate.co.uk/voipshop/gigaset/n300a_ip
6 Gigaset handsets
up to 30 minutes recording time
Multi-line for up to 6 handsets and 4 (3 SIP + 1 PSTN / Landline) calls

However, sipgate works on Android

http://www.sipgate.co.uk/user/tarife.php - To India
Landline: 4.70 p/min arounded to the nearest 10 is = 5p
Mobiles: 7.90 p/min arounded to the nearest 10 is = 8p
Minimum top up is £10.00 by direct debit and they take paypal.

Skype is another option aswell to think about

I have no clue what the guy above is trying to flog you but I can recommend you get the Skype application and get some credit with Skype.

That's probably going to be the cheapest option for you.

This will work on WiFi and 3G. I've made video calls on Skype for up to an hour and not had any issues other than signal drops when sitting in a moving car.

If you have a 1gb limit you should be able to make a fair amount of calls over 3G, but I assume you'll be trying to use WiFi as much as possible?

The other provider is Google, but that's only available to the USA at the moment (I can use it as I have an AT&T sim that its linked to. Great as the calls from Google Mail and texts from Google Voice to the USA are free, and the rest of the world is pretty darn cheap! 0.02 cents a minute to the UK when I'm in the USA!)
