Although your right when compairing her to Rihanna and Katy Perry; just to correct a few points - why it hasn't been certificated, Promise This has sold 200,000 over the amount needed to go Silver and is so far her second biggest selling solo single. Her second album also didn't take ages to go Platinum, it went that in about a month but soon stopped selling after she released only two singles from it (only one of which was a hit).

Certifications often don't get issued because the record label doesn't apply for them, especially singles. I think her second album has sold about half a million.

Cheryl has been in the UK pop music scene consistently for almost 10 years now.

But anyway, it's interesting to see all the "Cheryl will have no career now that she's left X Factor" brigade changing their story now.

To be honest, I think Call My Name is quite an average and generic song, but I also think the lengths people have been going to discredit Cheryl for the past 4 or 5 years is just silly. She's a pop star. Her career, like most other pop stars, depends on her getting catchy songs and radio airplay. All those theories about Simon Cowell or whatever are just silly.

Yes exactly she's not exactly that high profile as a 'musical artist'.You could argue about her celebrity figure merit's though - notice the Geordie Shore comment on Graham Norton.She / her PR agent's weren't exactly distancing themselves from that kind of Celebrity world by mentioning that were they.At least she's got an element of self awareness about were she is in regard's her popularity status (or her PR have briefed her well on that).

You're joking about not applying for certification's aren't you.Think she need's them compared to those other pop celebrities / 'world' reknowned artist's I mentioned.You could cut the jealousy of Katy Perry's success with a knife on Graham Norton.
Again I repeat - She's not exactly a massive selling artist is she though (compared to other's), although not many are these day's.She might get a No.1 with her latest single.It's bound to drop like a brick afterward's though if it does.
If TV airtime was based on commercial success (singles, album sales) - her presence on TV would be substancially reduced.
