Why do you think Cheryl's solo career took off & Victoria Beckhams didn't?

Describe how I'm deriding David Beckham? The world knows he had an affair with the nanny of this children In my opinion that's pretty grubby.

And if I appear 'active in my defence' of Cheryl - you are very active in attacking her. I call that 50/50

You seem to want to call the shots and take control which is fine. I'll post freely and with respect to posters and different opinons. I respect your right to have a different opinon, I ask for nothing in return or expect any more.

Could be. So much of Posh in this context is in the past, so it makes it more difficult to do the comparison. Would be easier to compare say Cher Lloyd with Cheryl as they are more contempary, current and had similar starting points.

The use of "sweetheart" in this way is patronising. I'll say no more.

Not at all, like you said, we have a difference of opinion, hence my 50/50 comment.

This conversation wouldn't have lasted so long if the comment about keeping a man hadn't been used - a comment like that is bound to attract a reply.

Victoria Beckham practically invented the modern PR machine.

Her whole career is about PR & Brand Beckham.

Everything those two do is about PR, right down to the fact that David Beckham practically retired from football at 31 to go & play in a sub-standard league, so they could get Brand Beckham launched in the USA.

Absolutely spot on

Not reading 4 pages, so probably already been said.

X-Factor. It helped her show off her personality during the GA break. When the Spice Girls quit, Victoria was pretty much at that stage where she never cracked a smile. Cheryl always smiled.

Victoria's heart was never really in it. She always seemed more interested in the fashion/family thing, and she became a bigger star than Cheryl Cole will ever be anyway.

Agreed! Almost anyone around the world will know what Posh Spice or Beckham relates to. Many people outside of the UK would struggle to know who or what Cheryl Cole is.

Cheryl is popular because overweight desperate chavvy women in tracksuits and necklaces with their name on need somebody to look up to and show them that getting out of their council house hell hole life is not impossible. And because some young gay lads don't know any better and just go along with whatever is popular in the club.

I agree. VB had more important fish to fry. Is that simple.
There is absolutely no resemblance between them. Cheryl needs a "pop career" to be seen, Victoria had loads of outlets.
She's super smart in the way she managed her brand and her fashion line is respected internationally, she knew there was no way with her lifestyle she could manage to have a solo pop career. And why would she want to be a mediocre singer adored by chavs in the Uk, when she she had better plans?

Cheryl Cole is a very viable and brilliant pop star -i would go on to say one of the best in the country right now. She pulls off amazing performances, very confident and the dance routines she does not struggle with. Now a great popstar doesnt have to be a great singer, she's not the best artist/singer but she is one of the best female popstars in the UK right - she is very capable. Just watch her T4 special and her Call My Name performances, shes really turned even more confident then her nervous self singing FFTL.

Especially recently, she seems to have stepped into a class of her own. She's also smart..Rachel stevens had the tabloids and media going for her but she lacked personality/fire but Cheryl does not struggle at all with the personality thing.

No one can blame her for her personal life advancing her career - it has, but it wasn't because of her. She married a footballer - that was a choice but the footballer cheating on her twice and the malaria thing she didn't involve. They learnt how to best take advantage of it but that wasn't her doing. I think she was happy being married to Ashley..

She can be gobby at times but without a doubt her songs are better than Victoria, she's a better performer than Victoria, her no.1 aim is music NOT fashion unlike Victoria. She's the new Kylie i think, she's gonna be around beyond Girls Aloud and have a very long career providing she does not do anything wrong. I can see her make ten solo albums and be in Kylie's place in years to come. There's something amazingly modern, fresh and capitivating about her.

Girls Aloud in general are a brilliant pop group, they went from kiddie pop band singing No Good Advice to teen loving Biology type credible pop act that crossed over to adults with Call The Shots, The Promise and the Loving Kind. It's a shame really Nadine had a lot of potential she just made all the wrong decisions. Nicola deserved to do better and her campaign was flawless. Sarah is struggling i think she needs to go solo. Kimberley seems happy doing what she's doing. Cheryls just formed into an utter star, she fully deserves it because she's put out brilliant pop music recently.

She also has that unmistakable quality about where men and women alike think she's great.

She's a bigger 'star' because she's married to one of the most famous footballers on the planet. Don't want to keep mentioning Brand Beckham but..............

Becks playing in the US has made sure that as a couple, they remain well known on both sides of the Atlantic.

Cheryl used the x factor to push her album and single down our throats like crazy...with the help of simon to take credit.

Thankgod Dannii was the wise one and did not use the show to hot gate her music.

Because Cheryl is prettier and also, Victoria was not able to transform herself into the nations sweetheart using sympathy. Quite simply it was the Ashley Cole debacle that made Cheryl what she is today.
