Hi there!

If you have Unblock-Us, then it will work. Don't forget to set up the DNS on your iPad

iPlayer is geo-restricted to UK, like almost every UK tv network websites.
I'm in france and I can access to iPlayer, ITV Player, TVCatchup websites. When I say access, I mean I'm able to watch on demand video (or live with tvcatchup). So I guess those websites work the same way as their apps.

Without Unblock-Us, I wouldn't be able to access to those websites.

No! - You will, most likely, need a VPN.

I can use iPlayer when abroad using my work VPN (as the BBC servers then see the access as coming from the UK). Others may be able to advise on more commercial ones.

You're wrong... See my last post.
You should check this page: http://support.unblock-us.com/custom...upported-sites to be sure you don't give any wrong informations

What "wrong information"??? - VPN works just fine - as I said it does!!! And is supported in the Ipad "Settings".

I know nothing about unblock-us so I said "may". Actually unblock-us seems to be PRECISELY a VPN operator!

It's people such as you who jump on others posts that give these furms their bad name!

The question was:
How will unblock us work for inlayer ?

Your answer:
No! - You will, most likely, need a VPN.

Your answer is wrong, so it's a wrong information.
I'm not jumping on you, I'm just saying that you should check before giving a categorical "no" without knowing anything about a service (you said it, not me).

If my answer is giving me bad reputation, I honestly don't care. At least I give right informations and I don't say "no it won't work" if I don't know what I talk about.

FYI, Unblock-Us is not a VPN, BBC iPlayer is a supported website.

My first message was everything but aggressive, I just was pointing the fact that it's better to check information before saying something about a service we don't know.

You like it or not...

Since you have an Unblock-Us subscription, you have to enter the DNS on your iPad and WD Live. I never use a WD Live, so you have to see if you can enter DNS

All the answers are in one my message quoted above
Unblock-Us does not work only for Netflix, but for many websites, see my different posts in this thread

No, DNS redirect services fool the content carrier into thinking you are in the geolocation limited for that content.
To put it simply, for Netflix unblock-us will fool the system into thinking you're in the U.S, for iPlayer unblock-us will fool the system into thinking you're in the UK.

Or even Australia for Australian players if you want to watch "Packed To The Rafters"..

Unblock-Us is way much better in term of price & service. There's no data transfer limit or anything and it works for some US websites, UK websites and other.

Watchuktv is only for UK websites, and at £4.99 it's already more expensive and more limited (5Gb transfer) than Unblock-Us.

Netflix versions are: US, Canada, Latin America, UK.

No Netflix service in Australia

Again, you can check this page http://support.unblock-us.com/custom...upported-sites to know what websites are supported by Unblock-Us, some aren't listed like Clear Channels & CBS radio stations and some services from UK.

Hi

I use a VPN UK to US VPN meaning I can switch between US and Uk servers up to 5 times in one month. I get the service from Strong VPN and I use a VPN Router that works with the Strong VPN server details from http://www.sabaitechnology.com/Default.asp
Sabai Technology. .

I just connect the Sabai Router to my ADSL router enter the VPN server details in my Sabai Router and thats it I can now look like I am in the States from any device connected to the Sabai Router. Of course you can just enter the VPN details directly into the IPad. Sabai even sell a device that will increase the Download and upload speed of the VPN connection.

Regards.

Alternatively, you could also use Overplay.net. Similar to Unblock-us in that they use a "SmartDNS" service.

Overplay works with all UK FTA catchup services, so BBC iPlayer (BBC Sport), ITV, 4oD and channel 5, along with Lovefilm, Netflix etc.

The DNS service also works with Irish channels such as RTE and services in Australia like SBS and ABC as well as TVNZ from (obviously) NZ plus some US services.

DNS services that companies like Overplay or Unblock-US offer have the following advantages over standard VPN's:
* As they don't require a VPN Tunnel, traffic is much faster and limited to your ISP speed and/or connection to foreign networks. This is great for video and allows HD streaming even from the other side of the world, so great if you wish to access far flung television like Oz & NZ.
* Works on a greater variety of devices. Sure, all PC's can setup VPN's, but many of us want to watch TV on a TV, and few TV's have this option. Many though allow you to manually set a DNS server. i.e. if you have say a late model Samsung Smart TV, you have built in Apps for iPlayer & ITV which work internationally via the DNS service.
* Generally cheaper than VPN services, and more reliable than free services.
* You can set the DNS server on your router, so all devices in your home will be able to access UK TV abroad - whether your Smart TV, iPad, Computer, Internet radio etc.
* Unlike a VPN connection, which forces all traffic through the tunnel, these Smart DNS services only check the details required from the TV on demand services - so all normal traffic routes without tunneling (basically, your standard non-TV related internet does not slow down)

When you get to France use a browser with Unblock-US DNS and go to http://unblock-us.com and click on 'Check Service', then click on the link within the yellow tab that appears to update the new ip address to your account.
Now just use BBCiPlayer as normal.

^^ you don't even need to use a browser. Just add their DNS address to the system properties in the device you wish to use (computer, TV, Playstation, Xbox, Roku etc) or even your Router for all devices in your house and this should work a treat.

Yes, but you will need to use a browser to update your unblock-us account to use the new ip address.
