Dear Peter Andre,
If you really want to help then here's something you can do which might actually make a difference: Become a volunteer. Cancer charities, hospices, hospitals and research organisations always need volunteers. Your time is precious, so if you want to help we suggest you stop dragging a camera crew around with you all day long, forget about your self-serving publicity addiction and do some real work. For free. |

I hope PA's motivation is to help people but his past behavior makes me suspicious. He tends to use every opportunity to make himself appear like a saint and it's revolting. I do feel awful for Andrew and his loved ones.

When I hear about celeb "foundations" or "charities" I always feel a bit dubious. Most of them are vanity projects and they don't run themselves. While there may be good intentions behind the idea, the directors and administrators make more than actually goes to charity. If PA is serious about cancer awareness and fundraising, he should align himself with one of the charities already doing good work, otherwise it feels like another attempt to raise awareness of Peter Andre.

I am sceptical about his motives. Why is it only now he's springing to action. It's getting worse with his brother and he's like we need to act quick, we need a charity ball and a photoshoot to fight cancer. Why every celeb thinks they have to have their own charity, asking for somebody else's money. Would it be so bad to give their own money to an established charity backed up by professionals and ask others to do so, too. Or is it not glam enough.

But I do agree where Andre is concerned. Apart from being incredibly and shamelessly self-serving, he has shown time and time again that he has the attention span of a flea. If he wants to help, put his energies and his celebrity behind fundraising for those established cancer charities and orgs and leave the setting up of trusts and foundations to those who are prepared to commit to and take the cause seriously and not treat it as something than can be abandoned (like a dog ) when the practical day to day non-glamorous aspects of running a trust/foundation take over.

A lot of people start up foundations and charities only when the situation has effected them. Are they selfish? He's done work for plenty of charities, eg the Zanzibar one, an ambassador for the NSPCC. Not in his back garden either.
He doesn't set a bad example to young fans compared to a lot of celebrities so I can't see what the problem is. |

I don't have an issue with Andre setting up a foundation ( maybe something in his brothers name) what I'm worried about is he is just doing it to fill his show as he has done with many other things. I honestly hope his gala in sept is a massive success as cancer charities need as much financial support as they can get.

PA's reputation for using anything and everything for self-publicity preceeds him. That is PA's problem, created by PA, owned by PA - no one else - and not the fault of those who are commenting on him. There is natural and perfectly valid scepticism about pretty much everything he says and does - again, his own fault - so maybe stop expecting people to applaud him for this latest announcement of his. When/if he does it and shows that it's something he's committed to, and not just another self-promo, then fine, good for him and great for the beneficiaries. But until then, why should anyone applaud him? Incidentally, he's just come off an 8-week series and made very little attempt to publicise cancer/treatment/the need for fundraising in any meaningful way other than to talk endlessly about how much it was affecting HIM. ![]() So you'll have to excuse me for not rushing to praise his latest endeavour. |

Any gala, foundation he sets up will be used as a platform for him and his career....everything he does, is a platform for him and his career.
Although I have the greatest respect for all the people who like myself donate and work at fund raising for needy causes, I am sick to the back teeth of watching this country leave the human needs of its people more and more in the struggling hands of life giving charities, while the powers that be pour endless amounts of its resources and people into the hands of life taking causes. |

![]() I imagine he spoke of how it affected him because it's his reality show about his life, for his fans. The fact that he's going to meet Prime Minister David Cameron to tackle cancer issues, work with research organisations and launch a foundation]could be seen as an attempt to publicise cancer/treatment/the need for fundraising in a meaningful way He has to fill his prog. with something, it might as well be something worthwhile. I'm sure cancer charities won't be holding him in contempt for giving the issue exposure. I'm seriously finding some comments on this thread downright weird. |

Anyway, done. Not really anymore to say on this until he does what he says he's intending to do. |

I find a lot of these post distasteful, knocking anybody for what I can only see has doing good, leaves a bitter taste.

He has not got a meeting arranged with the PM.. He is saying he should have one so he can discuss his ideas.. I'd also like to talk to the PM and raise a few issues.ive got first hand experience of cancer treatment and sadly due to many cutbacks ( something Peters brother won't suffer from cos he is able to go private) we don't have enough specialist nurses/doctors. That's what people should be shouting about.. All cancer sufferers should get amazing treatment no matter where you live in this country.. |

Just a point I'd like to raise .. In the article it states "it's the fight of his life and he needs to find a cure"
Isn't that a bit melodramatic?? It's Andrew who is fighting for his life not Peter surely |

I can't imagine that even PA's most vociferous critics can argue with the fact that he wants to do something to help.My problem is with the way he is going about it. PA doesn't seem to realise that just for once,it's not all about him. It's not about knocking him for wanting to do something,it's the way he's going about it. -Why does he think that he is somehow more entitled to meet with the PM than the rest of us?Is PA now a self-appointed expert on cancer, pushing himself to the forefront on our behalf? -Why didn't PA use his interminable programme to either publicise any of the fund-raising events he has organised to raise money and awareness,or to show people the hideous effects that cancer has ON THE PERSON SUFFERING FROM IT? |

Why are you reading so much into a comment 'a source' made? It is melodramatic but this is Now Magazine. Most articles in NOW are sensationalist rubbish, they have been sued numerous times for making stories up out of thin air, wasnt it Cheryl Cole who recently said almost everything she has read in this particular magazine about herself has just been complete nonsense and lies. |
