Usher - Looking 4 Myself

Usher released his 7th album on Monday called Looking 4 Myself. It's currently No.2 in the midweeks charts in the UK.

I bought it mainly on the strength of the lead single 'Climax' and I'm happy I did. The reviews I've read are generally positive so hope this album will do well. Some of my favourites are 'Climax', Can't Stop Won't Stop, Dive, Lemme See, Euphoria, Show Me, Lessons For The Lovers, I Care For U. Well most of the songs really.

It's going to be interesting to see what he's going to release next as there's only 3 dance type songs on the album, with Scream being one of them and that's already been released.

Anyone got this? What do you think of it?

I LOVE the album. It's brilliant. I really enjoyed it. I think my favourite song on there is Lemme See, but I also love Dive, Can't Stop Won't Stop, etc.

I agree about his next single too. I'm very curious as to what he'll release. I think Euphoria and Numb are the obvious choices, but his album sales have been very poor in the US, so I think (and hope) he might go for one of the RnB tracks, since they tend to help album sales better than dance-pop songs do, and Scream is under-performing there.

I also think it's important that he releases a pop/urban crossover hit, because the general public need to know the album isn't full of songs like Scream.

I found it disappointing. "Climax" was a very promising lead single but nothing on the album comes close to that song.

Not been overly impressed with any of Usher's album since Confessions... And in my opinion he's he's just been living off of it's success.

I actually thought Here I stand album was a very stellar effort. Love In This Club, Moving Mountains, What's A Man To Do, Before I Met You and His Mistakes were all really good.

It was okay for me, just was expecting much more from him...
He had a few good tracks on there, but I found the album as a whole slightly dull.

Yeah it is. Most albums I can get on Spotify the day after their digital release.

I bought Here I Stand and it does have some great songs on it like 'Moving Mountains', 'Trading Places', 'Will Work For Love', 'Love In This Club', but 'Looking 4 Myself' has been more instant to me and has less filler. I've always been a fan of Usher but never enough to buy his albums and Here I Stand was the first one I got from him.

I went to his concert last year and I forgot how many great songs he's had that I like when growing up, and he's great live so will definitely be going to see him when he tours again with this album. Would be nice to see it get to No.1.

If he was really smart, he'd release the single with Rick Ross "Let me see" that has URBAN written all over it and I think it'll do good the most out of all the songs!

Ye i agree and am really fed up with all these up tempo dance tracks
R&B is so bad at the moment
Would much rather listen to his older stuff

It's a very underwhelming album and sounds very disjointed and sloppy. Apart from 'Lemme See' and 'Euphoria', there are no other songs that I like. And I have no problem with him doing pop songs as long as he can make an album that has a specific sound and direction and his new one is not cutting it, much like 'Raymond Vs. Raymond', which I bought without listening to all the songs first because I thought it was going to be solid, but I was let down.

Totally agree...
And as a fan of his I'm sad to say - since Confessions he's lost his mojo.. he doesn't seem as passionate anymore in my opinion.

Sad but true. And it's not just the album. Have you seen any of his new videos or any of his recent performances?

What is so bad about his recent performances? I though they were really good. This album is his best album since confessions. Lemme see, Show me. Sins of my father, numb, looking at myself and i care for you are very good songs.

I saw the video for Lemme See aswell. It's brilliant, as is the song itself. I think it would make a great single, but it's already been a promo single, and I'm not getting my hopes up. I can see Usher releasing it as an urban-only single, but he should release it as a proper single, or else it'll flop.

Bought the album today, and I love it! I'm actually not that keen on climax, it drags on a bit for me. I'm really impressed with this album though

Listened to the album for the first time today. Apart from the opening track which is pure noise, the album is actually quite excellent. Pleasantly surprised.
