Me too. Got a bit jaded during the run up. Actually quite proud now knowing I am doing my part for the meet and greet welcome to the UK.

We don't exist. According to the media and politicians all volunteers come under the umberalla name Game Makers and I've heard rumblings of dissent from those not happy about this. I'm a London Ambassador, don't dismiss my title or role.

Sounds posh!
Do you have to hand round trays of Ferraro Rocher?

Not a bad idea actually. No we are there for the public, stationed at airports, public spaces eg the big parks. And we wear the purple/pink polo shirts, and the triblys (which I love). The role is about helping visitors to find their way around venues and London.

It's a pleasure to be involved. My kit, badges, and other assorted bits will be put away as souveniers. However I know some folk are keen to get their stuff on Ebay, once we are past the agreed event end date.

I was based at Cherry Park next to the Olympic Park site and 99% of questions were all tickets, rather than where the locations around the park were.
As has been mentioned there have been ripples of complaint in terms of recognition I do wonder what will be done in terms of recognition. I decided not to persue Games Maker role and wondering wherever I should have persued it oh well too late. Anyway thanks to all those who have voluntered there time. |
