I think it was more the national headline 'Time to fire the dinner ladies' on the Record.

I can't imagine old Mavis & Doris have the remotest input in what is on the menu.

Nor do I understand why parents persist in paying for something which seems so universally awful when they could make them something healthy to take in.

How did a blog with pictures of her school dinners get 2 million hits?

You'll probably find that a significant percentage of childen qualify for free school meals.

Anyway, apparently the ban has been lifted now...

It's a bad situation when children are being censored. Free society, my arse.

I had that feeling too as I thought it a bit advanced for a 9 year old to be doing alone.

^^ This.

Its a school not a dictator state. She should carry on doing it.

Reddit, hacker news, wired, tabloids, tv news websites etc. The blog gradually went viral and snowballed. As soon as someone stops a photographer taking photos, the technology websites go nuts.

I guess a day with no hair in your food is a good day.
There can't be that many 9 year olds as erudite as her or does modern culture and alcohol dumb them down as they age.

But it remains to be seen if the ban will in fact be lifted, hopefully it does.

The council's statement about the ban is still up on their website, and there are as yet no new messages on her blog.

It was only put on BBC news 20 mins ago, so she might not know yet if she's at school.

It was a silly ban and I'm fairly sure it will be lifted, but you can never be sure how the staff will react, even when instructed to do things like this. BBC headline is misleading, strictly speaking it should read "School instructed to lift the ban".

I don't really see why such an issue about school meals surely they should be grateful that they get them at all as there are 100s of kids in the world that do not have any food at all, kids now a days should just be thankful for what they have.

Can't really complain about the meals in my kids schools are they are not bad at all even if a bit overpriced in one of my kids schools and the other has a wide variety of choices over a range of prices to cater for all.

Yeah it was popular before this, but nothing like it is now and it is one particular School (and staff) that the spotlight is on. Is it fair on them?

If Martha and her Dad can carry on as normal without bowing to any pressure and the School are happy with it, that would be great, depends whether they can deal with (or want) so much attention.

What is she doing with a camera or camera phone in school anyway? All the primary schools I know refuse to let their children bring them in. I could understand if she had been stopped for this reason, it all seems a bit odd to me.

She was originally given permission by the School as part of a writing project.

LOL. It would detract from the cause somewhat if 'she' was blogging away during double maths !

She is going toi be chuffed when she sees the charity total has gone up from £2000 to £24,000.

The only credit the council deserves is doing a u turn so quickly. Stupid idea to take on a 9 year old in the first place!

As someone elsewhere said they should pick on someone thier own size!
