touchpads

Is there a way of turning this off?
My arrow keys are to the right of it, and i have to lean across it as I use left hand for the arrows.

My arm is across the touchpad and is managing to click the right button, and generally move it at times- most annoying to me.

I use the Fn and F10 to turn it off, but each time I use pc it switches itself back on.
Is there another way to turn it off until I choose to reactivate it please?
Thank you for reading

Short of disconnecting the cable, I don't think so. I think the Function key is the only way.

I just turned mine off in the control panel, mouse settings I think, It's been off since I bought it, as touchpads drive me crazy.
I think I just unticked 'Tapping'

Doh, I forgot about disabling the device, which you can do in Device Manager.
