Hi there,

I was wondering if its possible to get a X in 1 remote - that will handle TV, a DVD recorder, SKY+, as well as SATELLITE RX PVR and a VHS VCR

I have a Kameleon 6 in 1 more then happy with it. Not sure what a SATELLITE RX PVR is so unsure if you would be able to program the control one.

I have a Marantz RC9500 and absolutly love it. You can program it to do anything you want aslong as you have the original remotes. If your budget stretches that far I highly recommend it (there's also lower spec models at lower prices ).

The Marantz is nice, but i couldn't justify spending around £800 for a remote control.

My Kameleon was a more respectable £50

I had a Kameleon at first, but it didn't control everything I wanted, and I didn't like the 'clickyness' of the buttons, but yeah it's a good remote if it does what you need.

I currently have the marantz controlling: tv, pc, dvd, vcr, stb, amp, cd, md, dab, lights and network media player... love it

Using a streamzap IR control system, I used to use it for controlling winamp, but since I got my network media player I don't have much need for it. However you can configure it to do almost any task on your pc with various software

Why stop at 6 when you can have 15? That will allow for future growth!
For about the same price as a chameleon how about the One for All Mosaic.
It has a touch screen and is totally programable. It also has a 'learn' function for devices that there are no pre programmed controls. You can even use your own shapes on the touch screen. Totally cool!
What's more its is a bargain at Richer sounds reduced from £250 to £60.

No clicky buttons on my kameleon (it's the one off the virgin mobile advert), just a touch screen, so no clicky buttons. It also lights up when you knock it or whatever it is sat on. Usefull in the dark.

Also upgradeable by the telephone just speak to customer services, hold the remote against the phone and they send down new codes.

iSix, i didnt put a after my comment to you mate, no offence intended.

Anyway, i will need to control a Panasoinc E50 DVD-R (dvd recorder) and 2 satellite boxes (one SKY and another HUMAX satellite with inbuilt Hard disk (like sky plus))

Any ideas if any of the "all in one" range can really do it all?

Hmm... the one I had earlier this year (6-in-1) wasn't a true touch-screen (i.e. strong glass/plastic, lcd), it was a padded EL panel over a grid of minature buttons, you had to actually press the little icons rather than just tapping it like you do with a real touch-screen (yes I got bored and took it apart )

manikm - no offence taken, I just thought your statement didn't need a reply

do a lot of all in one remotes have a learning feature??

how does it work - do u press the original's buttons pointed at the all in one remote? how do they learn? does this mean ALL remote controlls can be 'duplicated' with learning remotes?

reason i ask is i wanna control my xbox, TUTV Nokia 221T box, creative surround sound system and my phiilips widescreen tv

If you go to the One For All website
http://www.oneforall-int.com/

Select PRODUCT SUPPORT
Select UNIVERSAL REMOTE CONTROLS
Select the Remote you are interested in (e.g. Mosaic, Kameleon etc)

You can then download the manual for that device which may answer all your questions?
Some of these remotes are very complicated and allow a high degree of control and customisation if that is your desire.

Sorry I forgot to add that codes for new devices (DVD players, SKY+ boxes etc) can be downloaded from the Internet. That ensures that a remote such as the Mosaic is future proofed.
