my 33ish year relationship is over with....

my chinese take-away after qualty and consistent food they were sold to someone else, even though they denied it when asked. i first noticed they were cremating the chips!! looks like they cooked them and then re-cooked them as orders came in.you could break glass with them.the chicken got stringier, out went the foil cartons for plastic ones, then a new menu with pictures of food?! why ??? always a bad sign of cheap take-aways i think.then tonight the worst chips ever and they stink of burnt oil.rang up complained so they sent a new bag of chips, after just 45 mins ! and they were soggy and undercooked.goodbye tasty's no decent indian and now no decent chinese !! looks like the diet is on

If it's been the same people running it for 33 and a bit years, you had to know the end was nigh!

Don't think I know anyone in this day and age who stays working in the same place for as long as that. You must be right though, they had to be good to stay around for that long. Such a shame the new people aren't as good.

It isn't unusual for places to re-cook chips, infact it's how thousands of restaurants do it.

i'd say the place was handed down in that time but now it looks like new owners.they wont last too long.the chips were always very good and cooked fresh but not now ! they want the ££ but serve crap! i don't mind waitng up to an hour for the delivery as i used to often on a friday ,but they now get it to me in 15 mins, what's the rush to deliver crap food?

people can re-cook chips if they are still good but these you couldn't eat along with the late substitutes i got and put in the bin too.i got the impession that the bloke on the phone didn't care and i told the delivery driver about the excuse for chips and how the food was going downhill fast .he was just smiling inanely in a sort of 'i don't care what you say'

so many bad take-aways out there, how the hell do they survive ?

A street close to us has 3 Chinese take-aways and the street is only about 1/4 of a mile long. One of them is very good and very popular and the other 2 are OK. The thing that always gets me is they are all closed on a Tuesday, why does one of them not open on a Tuesday and get all the customers?. Maybe i will ask next time i am in.

Oh I don't know how they survive.

Does Britain have an obesity problem? Thought I heard something about that?

The curry mile has a lot of restaurants and takeaways! In fact an entire mile of them on both sides of the street!

Some of the best chips in my town come from the Chinese and Indian restaurants. Chinese chips are better.
There are only a couple of 'chippies' who compare.

I agree, most Chinese restaurants do a really nice style of chips, quite chunky but still different from the chip shop.

In my area of East London, there are very few decent fish and chips shops left, most people seem to prefer fries from the chicken shop, so the Chinese takeaway has become a good place for chips.

No reason you can't have both. Salt and Pepper chips from my Chinese are amazing.

I used to think this too until I tried some. I'm not much of a fan of chips in general, but my local Chinese does them really well - much nicer than the pale, soggy ones you get from the chippy.
