Why do people 'hate' EA?

I didn't know IGN was owned by EA

It's a great read, the comedy value is up there with Bill Hicks.

I can understand why people hate them as it's like more cooler to hate ea as they face of video games.

I know ea will try milk everything they sell to make profit nothing wrong with it but if it was not ea it would be someone else doing it that why the hate towards Ea.

The whole article reads like EA propaganda; the victimisation of a big corporation being bullied by it's own customers.

Even Goliath had feelings yaknow?

EA have it made and fair game to them. 'EA Sports' must be a licence to print money, what with tweaked versions of all their games released annually, its nice work if you can find it.

Because EA are nothing more than money grabbing scumbags who release bug ridden games and never seem to do sod all to sort out the bugs. They also like to switch of servers i'm waiting to see the backlash when they turn of Fifa 11 servers considering a lot of people would of paid that £7 to go online.

Noticed over the years that EA release half finished games with bugs and try to smooth it over with patches. I would rather wait for a proper finished game. Saying that I do end up buying Fifa most years so I'm probably part of the problem.

A lot of people can't stand them because they're lazy and don't care about their customers, so often release FIFA games year after year that may be good, but are full of bugs at the same time; ones that they usually just leave. EA customer support can be an absolute nightmare at times as well from what I've heard others saying.

The problem is that the "haters" believe they are the majority of consumers. EA cannot make money without satisfying its audience. It deserves its success, and has clearly been responsible for games of tremendous critical acclaim and high quality. Those who dislike the company simply hate virtue and profit. As a result, they go out of their way to find justifications for their nihilism.

What is it with this 'haters' and fanboi cobblers? If I'm paying a company nearly 50 quid for a game that is designed primarily for online play I expect to be able to join an online game with a reliable server on the day of purchase. Take BF3 for exapmle, it took me nearly two weeks to be able to play a complete match online because of the shocking EA servers. It's not just a minority. EA take the pish. The end.

There's a difference between haters and critics. But I know a hater when I see one.

I expect your a fanboi then

The point being, labelling people who have genuine reasons to be miffed at EA 'haters' is a sweeping generalisation.

I love some of their games but there is also so much to hate about them (and some other games companys).

Take NHL 11, I decided to get it to replace NHL 09 but decided to skip 10 as I was hoping the game would have been changed more via missing a year. The cut scenes at the end of a match where the players congratulated each other where exactly the same, as where some of the goal celebrations. Now I'm not a gamer that really gives 2 s###'s about things like that usually but it is just so lazy. i'm not saying there where not changes to gameplay as there where, but I was glad I didn't pay full whack for it.

Then there is MMA. I bought a copy secondhand and thought this is a cracking little game I might have to buy the online pass for this in a week or 2 next time I have a big gaming session (i'm an older gamer with kids). Anyway i'm glad I didnt buy it that night as a week later they turned off the servers, but they still would have happily taken my money a week before shutdown. Also with this online pass thing they don't seem to lower the price as the game gets older which puts people off which makes the online community of games small. I couldn't get a game of Need for speed Hot pursuit for love nor money the other night, imagine if I was a gamer who had shelled out 8 quid for an online pass and had that situation, I would be really p##### off. They need to be more open with how long the servers are going to be up for and stop hiding behind the 30 days notice of a server shutdown thing.

I could go on but I really can't be bothered.

What i love about EA is...

If you love them you are a fanboy so blinded by your love for them that you will defend them no matter what

Or you hate them and call them money grabbing bastards, the haters can be split into to futher categories

1, the people who hate EA but by there games and complain about them all the ****ing time

2, the people who say stuff like 'i'm boycotting EA games' or 'I refuse to buy EA games anymore' and they act like they are achieving something by doing so, when it reality they are just missing out on some fantastic games and EA is still selling the game by the truck load

Can i not just be somebody who likes some EA games and not others, i buy Fifa and need for speed every year along side a lot of other EA games and not once have i felt like EA has robbed me and overcharged

It seems that in any walk of life people need something to hate, in books its Twilight in games its EA

Sums up not only EA but this whole generation of gaming really. I understand the hate EA receives for the above but I dont understand why they are singled out for it when almost everyone in the games industry are money grabbing scumbags who release nothing but bug ridden games.

At least they have servers. In my experience even the worst server on Battlefield is more stable than the best you can hope to get out of a CoD game.

No body deserves to complain if they repeatedly buy EA products. If you do your all hypocrites.

They are only successful because they make what the market will buy. If people didn't buy it they wouldn't make it.
