That is good news!

And I still can't believe people are still moaning about the soaps being moved, you've known about it for months (well actually the last 2 years) surely you can find something else to fill those half hour slots mon-fri and let football fans enjoy something they love like you do with the soaps 4/5 nights a week while alot of football fans have to suffer them! Can't have it all your own way
Well said. Some people have been very petulant about the whole thing.

I don't think that is fair. Some people geuninely dislike sport so should not have their entire tv schedule disrupted for it. Especially when there isn't even sport being shown on that channel. I think people have a right to be annoyed. We know the Olympics will again do the same thing so twice within a couple of months is a bit much. I have survived without Corrie on but I understand why people aren't happy. Sport has too much influence over tv IMO. Having it to the extent that a rival channel showing a match will mean the other channel change their entire schedule, that is ridiculous and unneccessary.

I feel most of the people who are saying it's no big deal are football fans so for them it's not. For non-football fans it is.

I'm not a football fan so I'm at least one exception to that theory. I've just done other things - gone on the net, watched a DVD, found something on the digital channels etc.

And I disagree only because the soaps have domination over the schedules for most of the year. This kind of sustained disruption only occurs only once every two years so I do think it's quite selfish to complain when it does happen. What about the non-soap fans who have to go elsewhere when the soaps seem to be saturating the schedules at every other point of the year?

The Olympics won't be the same because EastEnders will be moved to BBC2 and Corrie and Emmerdale will be unaffected as ITV won't be showing the Olympics.

And the ratings almost always justify football taking prominence.

It's always like it. I don't mind EastEnders being in different slots at all.

Im at work most evenings so have them on record most days anyway

if any soap has right to moan about its treatment in the schedules then it is emmerdale.

interesting that itv decided to sacrifise emmerdale against the england match and not their sacred cow corrie.

What is wrong with people? It has already been explained above why the soaps are reduced during sporting events!

ITV cannot afford to put Corrie on when rating will be dented by football as advertising revenues will be lower! No company will make a decision that dents their profits.

I don't like Sport either and i don't like losing episodes, but I recognise this very simple fact so don't moan. That is the end of the matter!

Sorry for the rant, but it annoys me when people just ignore a poster who has effectively ended the discussion!

I remember it well. Think anything over three is overkill personally.

Things like the West Lothian Question put me off quite a lot. Not a very democratic nation, this one!

They did take Corrie off for an England match. I think people are overreacting to people being unhappy. Why some posters are so annoyed that people aren't happy is weird. If people are unhappy let them be without making them feel bad.
