Cheryl is inspirational. She got away from a rough council estate.

I should have said that this has been sent to my g/f today, by a colleague (they're teachers) who is using it in a PSHE class.

What is this insane need for role models?? And what a disparate group of women. It's like comparing chalk and cheese. Who would possibly have Cole or the Rooneys as role models?

Of the above, Sophia Warner is obviously someone who is striving hard, against the odds, to achieve her goals so is the only one that stands out for me as someone to admire/respect.

I like KT Tunstall a lot but a role model? Why? As for Miranda Hart? Intensely irritating and the opposite of funny, so a definite no for her.

I can understand why young people would idolise them but I don't think Colleen is a particularly good "role model"

Coleen represents everything I can't stand about the Wag culture. She hasn't gotten anything (I mean her tv shows, books, columns etc) through hard work. It's been given to her on a silver platter through marriage and considering she spends more time on holiday than doing anything else, I don't think hers is a lifestyle young girls should be aspiring for. Don't get me wrong there's nothing wrong with luxury holidays and the best of everything but should we be encouraging people to look up to her? No!

Well out of those women it's a no brainer, isn't it? Sophia Warner. Hasn't let her disability stop her, works hard and is one of the best in the world in her field. She's talented and determined, and has shown that you can do what you want if you put your mind to it.

But I agree with Lexi, what is it with the need for role models? Why can't women (and men) aspire to be what they want without having someone to look up to? There are also plenty of "normal" men and women out there who are doing amazing things without being famous.

I personally don't hold any celeb as a role model.. For me it's my parents.. Who raised me and worked hard to ensure I had a great childhood with a good education and morals.

I've nipped out to the pub this afternoon and read the Daily Mirror (I know, I know ! ! !) and there is all this guff in there about Coleen Rooney being "Top Wag" and "leading a team of WAGs"

If I can swear, it is just bolloox.

Also - why, for the love of Mike, despite having no previous presenting experience, was Coleen Rooney given her own TV show, and why is it that both her and Mrs Gerrard have their own magazine columns, where they advise women on the latest fashion trends, despite neither of them having a background in fashion design. Many highly qualified journalists slog away for years without ever being privileged enough to get their own column in a national magazine, yet these WAGs are handed these jobs on a plate.

I find it annoying that many "celebs" have magazine columns when they have nothing useful to say. I don't know why they think their opinions are more important because they are famous

Particularly when the said columnist is Kerry Katona - the amount of times she's f*cked up, she's in no position to preach to anyone

£ talks sadly. It annoys me as well when you see zelebs putting their name to anything. It makes me sick Jordan is on a best seller list despite not writing or even reading her books.

Colleen calls herself a journalist!

The same for me.

But out of the various ones given by the OP, then I'd choose Sophia Warner.

None

If your role model is some crap comedian or pop singer, you need higher standards in life.

only the ones with children and those kids are the only people that they should be a role model to.

it is the responsibility of all parents to be a role model and not someone fro m the media
