Confused about Anytime+

Hi. I was just looking at anytime plus. I clicked add the 'Anytime+ self set up' which is free. I'm confused as to what this entails?

Does that mean I get the box free to set up myself. Plus no monthly payment or anything? And do you have to have a Sky broadband to buy this?

I would be really grateful if someone could help un-confuse me.

Anytime+ is free to all Sky subscribers with a compatible Sky+ HD box but you don't have to subscribe to the HD pack, just Entertainment or Entertainment plus.

All that 'free self set up' consists of is connecting your Sky+ HD box to your router with an ethernet cable, you can use any broadband connection, not just Sky's. Once you have done this just add Anytime+ to your account and they will send a signal to activate your viewing card.

You can buy a wireless adapter (I think it costs £60) if your Sky+ HD box is a long way from your router.

Thanks for that.

Also, when you go to the summary page what does 'Box 1' mean?

Do you have multiroom? Maybe it means your main box?

I only have one box.

Nevermind I figured that out. Because my router and sky+ hd box are at completely different ends of the house. How can I get the wireless connector?

Here is Sky's own kit but you may be able to buy a cheaper alternative, there's probably product information in the forums somewhere.

If there at different ends of the house home plugs may be a better solution

You can get homeplugs, as previously mentioned, like these:
http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B004INVKP4/

or a wireless adaptor for it, like these:
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/VONETS-WIF...#ht_4661wt_676
http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B003VIWJYI/

As rjb101 said, the homeplugs may be the better option if the distance is too far for wireless to have a strong signal.

Proxy IP Question...

I just read here about the Sky Wireless Connector that will allow access to the Anytime+ stuff, but my questions is: I live in Czech Republic and need to use my Proxy IP from our London office to allow me to watch iPlayer stuff etc.. so surely I will need it to use this Anytime+ too or they will know I'm not in GB or IE.

Does anyone here use Anytime+ from outside GB or IE and how do you do it? I was wondering if it's possible to set the Proxy IP in the Sky connector thing...

Looking forward to your replies!

Andrew.

Thanks for all the replies. I think I'll use homeplugs.
