Singing lessons? She is one of the best vocalists of today. She hardly needs them

Christina needs the vocal lessons to preserve her voice and to help her stop her iconic wailing.

Hopefully we'll get two singles prior to the album release then. There were rumours of the lead single dropping in June/July?!

Christina does need singing lessons. Her range is massive (which is perfect to work with!), but her control over said range is shocking.

Give me someone with a very little range (and a nice tone of course) who has complete control over wailing.

I can't wait for this Hopefully she'll tour this time too. I hope she goes back to tracks like Fighter and Dirrty. She hasn't topped those tracks since.

To this very day I still can't work out why Bionic bombed like it did. Yeah it had a weak lead single, but it was by no means a bad album. Much better than Back to Basics. My only criticisms are the length and the fact the best tracks were on the Bonus CD.

I think Christina would definitely benefit from vocal coaching. Her voice has changed over the years, and I'm glad that she's not too proud to ask for help.

Anyways, I'm really excited to hear the new material. She's at her best when she's overcoming and I bet she jumped at the chance to prove herself a Fighter again.

Actually, there's a lot more to singing than simply singing loudly. Christina Aguilera has a powerful voice but why any of you think she's having lessons to gain further power is pretty laughable.

Anyone with half a brain stem know that there's other things she could be being taught - how to control her voice better; how to prevent her voice wearing itself out through continuous overuse; how to avoid vocal clichés like vox falto or melisma; how to improve pitch, intonation, diction, etc.

The way you lot are talking about her you'd think the only variable in a singers' voice is their volume... Christina may be a powerful singer, but she's yet to win me over and make me admit that she's the best in the business right now. She hangs onto words that aren't really worth hanging onto far too much for my liking, and her melismatic warbling just feels so damn heavily-weighted she becomes a right bore to listen to.

Everyone knows Christina is a good singer. In the charts, there's very few better than her. Most pop stars aren't good singers at all.

she can sing obviously. anyone knows she is a belter, vocal gymnast and a range show off. does she need lessons? well there is certainly many other artists in need of help before she does. she is a coach on the voice after all and they obviously didn't hire her because she is noted for progressing other artists. cant wait for the new album.

Based on the logic that powerful singers are good singers.

Like Mr. Pumpkin Soup said, Christina's range is pretty impressive, but the girl has no control and just ends up wailing her emotion out and hoping it hits someone.

There's just as much 'goodness' is a weaker voice. Voices like Will Young's aren't very powerful at all but the control over his voice is unmatched in today's pop (not that I'm a fan, I can assure you, but credit where credit's due and not where it isn't).

Her performance of 'The Prayer' on The Voice was the first debut of her newer, stronger vocals since she took her new vocal coach on.

Anyone notice any difference in her tone?

I can't wait. She's been recording for a long time, she's collaborated with various producers and she seems to be really devoted this time around. She said she was looking for emotional and heartfelt songs to complete the album

There is no confirmed release date, though. She'll obviously release a single in September/ October to coincide with the live shows of 'The Voice' and the major award shows (VMA's, EMA's, AMA's), but we don't know when she'll release the album yet. It's all rumours for now

Its true about her having vocal lessons because it was widly reported late last year. You can tell her voice has changed as well. Her vocals on La Casa and The Prayer are much tighter than they have been since her Back To Basics era.

Really looking forward to her new album.

She certainly does need singing lessons! Has anyone seen her monstrous version of the American National Anthem? I think her fluffing the words overlooked how strained and terrible she sounded.

To be fair anyone can fluff lines. It happens to the best of them. The straining could have been for any number of reasons on that particular day. On the whole though Christina has very little problems with her voice. Its not like her diction is as bad as say, Leona's or Diana's for example. So all Christina needs practice on is how to control her voice as she ages. Because as you get older your voice changes. She is no longer at her vocal peak and its refreshing to hear she is taking action to address this. Unlike Mariah who convinced herself for a decade she could still sing like she was 22 when she couldn't.

I'm glad she's taking vocal coaching, yes she is renowned for her chops but as people have said she doesn't have the best control. I'm really looking forward to hearing new material from her, has she said how it will sound production wise? I really don't know what to expect.
