Mine is on the blink and am thinking of just buying a new one. However I've been very happy with this tv so is it worth getting it repaired?

It's an LG and I read they're more expensive to repair, my second worry was paying to get it repaired and then the repair not lasting long.

I dunno what's wrong with it. The screen flickers then goes black for 10 minutes when first switched on. Then when it's been on 10 minutes or so the screen comes on but covered in a red criss cross pattern. I then have to switch it off and back on again and then it's ok for the day.

The days of repairing most low value mass produced consumer electronics has long gone . Unless its under some kind of warranty my feeling is why waste money on inspections etc only to find that the required part is very expensive if it is available at all .

Much depends on what is wrong with it.

The fault may be power-supply related. It is often possible to get these repaired very cheaply.

But if you aren't confident to do it yourself, I tend to agree with iangrad.

Why not ask for a quote if you are unable to diagnose and fix the fault yourself and then decide whether to proceed?
