Aww. All you folk saying rabbits are crap pets are making me sad Maybe if they'd have been neutered their behaviour would have calmed down and if people were better educated that they're not that great for kids. Some animals can just be right b&stards though!! Admittedly, I used to think that rabbits were really crap pets (I'd never owned one so just thought they sat and ate lettuce all day) but after finding my doe dumped in a cage a few years back, I've changed my mind. She's brilliant! She's currently lying under one of the armchairs with my male rabbit giving me evils as it's almost time to put them to bed

I do have Indian stick insects, and whilst myself and my OH think they are amazing, everyone else just wonders why the Hell we have them as all they do is shed and chill out on the ivy

Actually, I had a couple of goldfish years back that my brother won at a fair. We called them Billy and Jason (Power Rangers ) and they died fairly quickly... They were quite crap...

I used to have hundreds of Indian Stickinsects when I was a child, I've always found Invertebrates interesting, and fascinating to keep. I now keep a very similar, but larger species, Baculum thai, and a few other species, I can see why some people who like all they're pets to be more interactive and friendly (although all but a few phasmids are non aggressive) would find them boring, everyone's different though I guess.

A cat? No.

I kind of want a crab now.

Worst one I ever had was a Malamute. Even though she was three years old she just loved shitting all over the floor whenever the mood took her. I hated that damn dog.

My pug is grey, walks with a limp and has one eye that she can hardly see out of and she's only 3!! Love her to death though I wouldn't say she's crap, just a bit unfortunate physically and likes a grumble

I had a cat that for the couple of months we had him, he was horrible; always biting people, scratching, pooing on the floor etc.

Unbeknown to me he was ill - he died really young

Poor cat. Made me feel bad after I found out it's because he was ill

Some of our old guinea pigs were quite crap, they never wanted fuss for long and were nasty, bit a few times and fought with each other a lot!

More recently about 2 years ago, decided to adopt a second dog but she chewed on one of my beloved cockatiels and wouldn't let go (after being told she'd be fine with smaller animals) - when I prised the bird out of its mouth the poor thing seemed OK but died of shock later! So she went straight to a new home after - I didn't want to risk the second bird! I must be a crap owner though too because I accidentally stepped on the other one about a year later after he managed to get out of his cage whilst I was out (he could never fly, was always a runt but a super pet, in the summer time he used to sit outside on top of the gate and stare at the outside world, all the kids loved him but he didn't love them and would always peck at their little darling inquisitive fingers ).

I had 3 spiney leaf insects - my son loved them (the last one died a few months ago), he's a bug fanatic, next up millipeads!

Only crap animal i've had was a rabbit - and yes she was neutered. We've had animals for years and at the time had about 11 rabbits. Found this little black thing being carted around by next doors cat, realised it was a baby rabbit and took her in. nursed her back to health, got scratched, bitten, kicked etc 5 times a day whilst trying to feed her! Had her neutered as soon as we could (to try and calm her down), didn't work. She then escaped into the garden, only to come back at night to eat the food we'd put out (caught her a few times dashing out as she heard us coming). No idea what happened to her, presume she met a fox or owl one night as she stopped appearing. But she did have this really evil look in her eye - little cow. After all those days of nursing, and care we put into her too! blooming ungrateful if you ask me!

edit - spayed not neutered.

one of my daughters has a hamster that they`re all terrified of, it draws blood regularly and it`s massive because the baby feeds it through the bars when no one`s looking.

If it bites then they haven't handled it enough at the beginning to tame it. Hamsters shouldn't bite and all that food will shorten it's life.

Strange. The one we have now is as tame as anything and is handled most evenings.

Daughter's friend had one and it was huge. Was so big that I almost didn't recognise it as a hamster. They said all the kids were feeding it too.

i have a couple of yellow slider turtles that don't really do a lot, plus they're pretty expensive to keep initially (massive fishtank) and just sit there in the heat spot on a rock all day, shitting everywhere

it`s going to be the size of a guinea pig before she`s done. or she`ll talk it to death.

we had three dwarf hamsters that were all mental, one of them flipped one night and massacred the other two.

the murderous one eventually managed to kill itself by climbing along the wire roof of their cage and it fell quite badly one day and expired overnight.

vicious little shit.

Dwarf ones are supposed to be nastier than Syrians and harder to tame. Only advantage really is that you can keep more than one but just one Syrian hamster.

We had a gerbil who massacred her Mum and her Sister. We found them literally with their throats ripped out and her covered in blood looking not in the least bit remorseful! We renamed her Kelloggs ('cereal killer'..... groan )

I'll re-phrase then. USUALLY you can keep more than one.

No, just like some people (naming no names), there are some crazy pets, all animals have their own behaviour. We had 6 guinea pigs (sadly now 5) and they all have different behaviour. Some are fine being handle, one definitely not. Some are curious, some are happy to sit back and chill out. That is the fun of having them, all different.

This is my post of the day - I can't stop laughing at the picture it has conjured up.

I bought two goldfish a few years ago and within hours of getting home they had pretty much killed each other.

I found one lying at the bottom of the tank with it's gill torn off and the insides visible, and the other swimming around with a missing eye, which was at the bottom of the tank amongst the stones, still blinking. I nearly threw up.

fish don't blink...

had a telescope eye who knocked an eye off on the side of the tank once... i had to separate it for a week as all the other fish would swim along side it and pick at the remnants of the optic nerve
