Is it accpetable to sing in HMV?
from time to time, I wonder into HMV, see what they have in stock, see if any of it is reasonably priced, that it could be an impulsive buy, but generally its a no on that front.
However HMV does play rather loud music in store, and the other days I was singing (poorly as always) when it occurred to me, people may not like this. What say you, the great and wise collective of Digital Spy. The song was "Lola" by The Kinks. |

go for it
, i used to work at HMV and to be honest its very annoying for staff, we had to have on the latest albums on all day everyday to "promote" them for sales, and for some reason they believe playing the music as loud as possible will get the customers to buy them haha, sundays were the best because it was the day management wern't in so our supervisor would let each memeber of staff on shift choose any album in the store new or old to play , so their was always a mixed variety

You're less likely to attract derision if you dance at the same time.

During the week, on my walk to and from the train station there are about 5 people who always sing out loud. Now this is about 7am and at that time I really don't want to be hearing somebody trying to "rap" or some churchy gospel song.
HMV though, I would say as long as your not busting a lung, it's fine.

No, you're supposed to walk round tutting and muttering "Could have got this cheaper online"

You'd probably be infringing someone's copyright, or be carrying out an unlicensed public performance or some other nonsense

If they are playing loud music then how loud are you singing if it can be heard above the music?!
![]() ![]() If you could hold a tune then I'd say you should carry on but if you're tone deaf it's probably best just to hum along instead. |

I'm always singing in shops with there is music playing songs that I know. I don't sing loudly enough to be heard though, well, at least I don't think I do.

If the music is up loud enough and the staff dont have to listen to the customer then yes but work in a ladies clothes shop and we have music and I cannot tell you how grating it is listening to tuneless women humming and singing the wrong words to the song

Whenever I'm shopping/browsing the clothes I always end up with someone beside me either singing or humming. I don't mind it I find it quite amusing, maybe they don't notice they are singing so loudly.
