Iphone 4 and 4S still way better than any Android phone

So yes there's some 4, 5" phones, 16, 32GB handsets, great sound quality, more free apps on Android but STILL I don't get it. I really dislike the feel of Android. The App store bores me, the games are less superior especially free ones. The screens are much more unresponsive and the screen depth of text still doesn't match the retina. The build quality sucks on Samsungs. You just have to hold the Iphone vs the Samsung. Yes it's a bad idea to drop the Iphone but if you are careful it's a much smarter well made handset.

Galaxy note was almost as big as the Playbook. I tried most tablets in a store and found the playbook to be faster and more unique in design. The Android tablets were too complicated. The Galaxy had no home button unlike the Ipad and wiglets were annoying.

I go into phone shops all the time and they always dish the Iphone and say it's got crap signal, Android do better with there OS updates and this phone is much newer and better sound. Don't believe it.

The Iphone is much more interesting to use with Ibooks, the better app store, texting, surfing is smoother even was back in the 3GS days. The Iphone camera is better than any 5 or 8MP I've seen, Facetime is better than the dud 3G calls we had years ago.

It reminds me of the Sony Ericsson handsets they always had so much missing that Samsung never had but the K750i, K800i, C905 were all iconic flagship phones. Since Android came in it's been dull production lines of phones. Bigger memory, BIGGER screen, BIGGER camera like 12 mega pixels too much for a camera phone but they seem think it's better.

Give me IOS6 over any of these Android production line clones any day. 200 new features and a decent OS which works. Being honest there's not one handset I like. The odd Windows phone has got my eye but there's few others I'd prefer to own.

No doubt about it Iphone is the best all round smart phone money can buy. Iphone 3GS to the 4 to the 4S. Might lack some IOS6 features but from budget to high end comparison I'd much rather have the Iphone. Anybody agree?

No, don't agree...

Fair enough if you don't like it - just means it is better for you...does not mean Android is in some way poor...just not good for you. A lot of people like Android more than iOS because it suits them better.

I prefer neither as I have a Windows Phone and am very happy with it as it suits me.

I don't believe there are really many, if any really bad phones any more.

If you look at the specs some Android phones do have a higher res and PPI than iPhone screens now as well.

Not sure I understand your comment about the Galaxy Note? You say it's almost as big as a PlayBook...but what is your actual point?

Personally I find both app stores to be pretty similar to each other and most developers now releasing on both to maximize revenues so quality will be the same.

I've been playing around with Android quite a bit lately, and its a great, feature rich OS. It takes a bit of getting used to if you're used to iOS, but ultimately it's down to personal choice. Both OS's pretty much do the same things. Android is great on customisation, and wide availability amongst so many models and price ranges.

And with that, I doubt I'll bother with this thread again as it's going to go in a predictable direction

Reminds me of someone drunkenly proclaiming to all their friends that the guy they are in the bad relationship with is really really great they just don't know him like she does. When in reality they're just trying to convince themselves

Incidentally, I was out shopping today and wandered into Carphone Warehouse to play with the toys…

My impressions of Android are pretty much unchanged. It always seems so cluttered and kludgy. Maybe I'd get used to it, but impressions to date are meh!

The hardware though does vary. Samsung phones, the biggest sellers, usually with most impressive bullet point specs, but damn, they feel cheap! Nasty slippery plastic. They feel disposable, like you should buy them in a pack of 10. Ugh!

Stark contrast to the HTC phones, particularly, the latest One X. That feels nice. But pity to reach that niceness they had to make many of the same compromises Apple did, i.e. non-replaceable battery, no memory cards.

Another phone I was playing with today for the first time for quite a bit was the latest Nokia Lumia 900 with WP7. It's really quite nice, hardware and OS. Just a pity there's bugger all for it.

Which of course leaves the iPhone. Hardware, you can't deny they feel premium. I know when you drop one it's probably toast, but they do feel solid and dependable. iOS though, I'm ambivalent about. Maybe familiarity breeds contempt?

I can only conclude the perfect phone doesn't exist. They've all got their pros and cons. And I'm still sitting on the fence about which my next one will be.

Go back to the pub lol... restricted and samey.

Android has soo much to offer, unless you are a thick **** that has apple everything as its easiest to use(has less options for a small pathetic mind to get confused with lol) and candy stray from the flock.

Pick any design you fancy, add android and the additional tweaks so it be comes your phone... not an phone like everybody elses

Nope, only you and a handful of others.

200 new features? I don't think calling changing the colour of the theme a feature which apple oddly have done. Along with some other absolutely pointless things its still a second rate mobile OS.

Anyway, i have an 4S and its the biggest pile of shite i have ever owned. Oddly enough, every piece of apple tech i have owned from an imac, apple tv and this piece of crap has been a bitter disappointment. Slow, sluggish and i just cant get why anyone likes them.

Of course, i do get it really. Its a lifestyle one buys into. Some people fall for all the hyperbole like you, others like me thankfully, aren't daft enough to fall for it.

The screen on the iphone is terrible. Yes, the resolution may be good, but the colours are absolutely awful with absolutely no way to change them. The galaxy S2 screen compared to the iphone 4/S screen was so much nicer as is the S3 which blows the whole thing out the water.

Surfing on the iphone for me is the same as any other one. It doesn't do it any better or any faster than another phone.

Signal wise, the iphone is shocking. Its always been an issue for iphones right back to the first one. You cannot possibly sit there and say 'i don't believe it' after the mess apple made of the iphone 4....

The apple app store is THE biggest mess of disorganisation i have ever seen!

This one ticks me off more than anything....scroll down hundreds of apps, find one you want, click to install it and it throws you out the app store to where its installing it on the homescreen. When you finally flick back to where your app store is and go back into it, the idiot thing shoves you right back to the start of the list of apps you have been scrolling through for about 20mins!

Just works my arse!. Only a pillock could think that. Oh, and the production line clones just show how much your up apples backside. Do remember apple ripped LG off with the design of the iphone. Oh and they pinched the iphone name from cisco. Of course, this will have completely slipped your mind....

Sounds like you got the wrong phone then.

It's obvious before buying an iphone is not an Android. Why not get a Galaxy?

If there was a better Android phone I'd have it. But there's not. I find the screen and app store very good.

I haven't used an iphone much but have had an ipod touch for a couple of years which I think uses the same OS, and have also used a few android mobiles (samsung, htc, sony) and of the 2 OS's I much prefer the freedom of android and being able to do what I want how I want to the locked down approach of ios, but I do think that the apps on IOS are better - well at least the guides and types of games I like which don't seem to exist in the android system.

Hardware wise the iphone looks and feels nice but is a scratch magnet and vastly over priced for what you get. My current mobile is a Sony Xperia P and it looks and feels just as good quality as the iphone, but with a far superior spec at a lower price (my phone + 24 month contract comes to less than buying a basic iphone only in total) - in fact the only 2 drawbacks I've found with the sony are a lack of microsd card slot and non-replacable battery which are faults also affecting the iphone. for making calls/texting I can't compare, but if the touch hardware is similar to the iphones then the sony wins hands down on video and music playback quality - music particulary is piss poor on the touch in comparison, web use is also nicer on the sony as the screen looks nicer than the retina one on the touch and more responsive.

That is actually *finally* being fixed in iOS6. You'll no longer be kicked out of the App Store when you select to install something.

I think it depends why kind of user you are.

The way I use a mobile means the iPhone is my preference. I'm not really interested in customisation and massive screens. I dont spend hours playing with it, I just pick it up when I want to use it and it works.

I just like the way it looks and works and I do think that some of the apps are streets ahead of Android.

I am currently running iOS6 and so far am very impressed.

The things that stop me using the iphone are the non expandable memory and no changeable battery.
Just the other day I filled my 8GB card right up so have now put a 32 gig one in my SGS2.

Sorry but wondering what substances you were on last night OP?

Even the Galaxy S2 is on par with the 4S, but if you like the status of the iPhone then its up to you (about the only feature it has going for it).

Granted the iPhone is very stable and quick (although the newer Android are the same now days), but they are so restricted in what you can do with then.

I cannot believe they have not got widgets yet and a lot of the time when Apple update iOS I am often surprised that it did not have those features already which a lot of phones have had for years (such as cut and paste, video recording, multi tasking, multiple internet pages etc.... etc.... etc...).

For the features I need the S2 blows the 4S away.

What I love about my android phone is the glorious large screen really bright and clear easy to see and view all material on it. I can set it up just how I like it for me so it instantly tells me what I need to know at a glance.

The real beauty is when I want to use it for anything it just works perfectly ... just amazing.

Having been an iPhone user for the last 4 years and recently switching to Android. I can't say that agree with the OP. My phone has a bigger brighter screen, HD screen. Has a noticeably faster processor, better camera and video recorder. All the apps I want I can find in google play. Another feature I love is the customisation. I've now got my phone set up exactly how I want it, not how apple think it should be. My phone always works and is a doddle to use.

"Iphone 4 and 4S still way better than any Android phone"

It is just a mantra to ensure you get way overcharged forever.
Keeps the premium perception though, despite it becoming more and more curtailed.

It has Satnav detail equivalent to TomTom.

Both Mapquest and Google Maps have webapps if you need more detail:

About time!! Only taken years but again, that's typical of Apple which i cant stand. I'm assuming this is 1 of the 200 features!!

I do with the would let you like the Galaxys, change the temperature of the screen colours. As they are, they are bloody awful on the iphone.
