I'd still be surprised at 94%, but 60% was a massive underestimation, clearly!
So if we think those wikipedia attendance figures are OK, maybe we shouldn't give up hope for another UK tour?

On the other hand they are basically a band with no record label here and no TV promo etc. How high do most indie artists ever get in the UK charts?

Rosemary brought a copy for her neighbours and they were thrilled, she had no idea they'd been to two Jedward concerts before and they had NO idea there was a 3rd album! that's how bad the promo is. if you aren't on twitter you don't know about it! unless you are in Singapore or Russia where it's played on the radio! nuts!

Hopefully!

Based on a quick totting up of the Wikipedia figures, the combined attendance at the UK tour dates last year was c. 8400. They sold 3000 and something copies of Victory in its first week of release (if I'm remembering correctly), so album sales are no indication of potential tour ticket sales.

Also, quite a few posters here said at the time that a good number of people at those concerts didn't know Victory had come out.

A lot of the European fans would prefer UK dates to Irish ones because it's cheaper for them because they can get direct flights more easily.

Haha sorry, Aussie humour. That's exactly what I meant (the better the album, the lower it charts).

I think Lipstick last year helped a lot. It was top 40 in UK. With Waterline being the first single of the new album their new music sounds too much like something else while Victory in whole and Lipstick especially was more original and catchy.

To be fair, things are pretty bad in Aus too! I'm always amazed at what's high in the charts... but good music often wins out, slowly. So there's hope yet

Assuming it's accurate, the percentages of tickets sold for the last UK tour were:

Newcastle 85%
Glasgow 100%
Blackpool 98%
Birmingham 88%
Cardiff 84%
London 94%

That was better than the previous UK tour which averaged at about 83%
I was at the Glasgow one last Dec and it looked packed, although there appeared to be some empty seats. Speaking to one woman, her and her husband bought tickets for their daughter and themselves for the whole tour ( I think the girl was about age 9 or 10), they were from Ireland and after the concert started they nipped off to the bar, the dad having done this all along (guess he did not like Jedward much). Must have cost them a fortune for tickets and b&b.

I also saw them in 2010 and that venue was definately sold out cause there were not many tickets left when I got mine- although these may have been smaller venues back then.

what charts high is usually what there is no escape from!
If don't I hear Maroon 5 pay phone or that call me maybe song more than 5 times a day I am like distraught. Clearly radio stations can only afford one compilation album a month and that's all they play!

Exactly. But I still think they should stay away from America for now.

That's so weird, I mean the whole UK thing. After Ireland, UK is the country with most Jedfans, right? How is it possible the promotion's not strong there?

Oh, and here's John the unicorn

I agree with this. The UK media / comedians have been brutal, but the US can be even worse if they get the wrong reputation. I think they'd have to already be underground popular before they tried (which, to be fair, 1D were before they launched).
