Surely it has to be up for sale first!, I can't see it being sold to be honest. That came out of nowhere didn't it !

Everything Everywhere

Not really, Deutsche Telekom wanted rid of the UK since 2009 when it said it wishes to exit the UK, because of the recessesion companies were not risking it and thought the price was too high, they instead merged with Orange who was interested in bidding for it but couldn't afford it, so they merged, it was also a money saving option, but nothing has changed, they've actually lost a lot of customers since 2010.

I don't think either France Telecom or Deutsche Telekom actually see much future in the company, if it carries on, it will end up behind O2 or Vodafone and that would be bad as Everything Everywhere had around 29 million mobile customers, it now has around 27 million and the Orange home broadband business was losing 180,000 customesr per quarter in 2010.

Agreed, FT and DT are basically just trying to wait out the storm

That's the purpose of a private equity firm really...

I wonder if BT would be interested or Cable and Wireless Communications(Not the poor performing one,the other one that serves the channel islands,Isle of man,St Helena ect...)

I've also heard that BskyB might be interested in the mobile industry, wouldn't be very keen on them to be honest

We had a memo sent from Olaf yesterday. The nuts and bolts are as follows:

Quote:
As you know, Everything Everywhere was formed in 2010, with Orange and T-Mobile’s former parent companies – France Telecom and Deutsche Telekom – becoming our shareholders.

Since that point there has been ongoing speculation about the future corporate structure of our business and our brands. There have been more reports of this nature today.

It’s unsurprising that we are the subject of such rumour and speculation. As the UK’s biggest communications company, we hold a unique position as a shining example of a successful joint venture, and because of that we’re under the media microscope.

Like any company, corporate shareholdings can change, but I wanted to assure you that this is not the case for Everything Everywhere at this time. Our shareholders continue to invest in our business - committing to £1.5bn in investment in our network over the next three years - and there is no change to our shareholder structure. France Telecom and Deutsche Telekom remain as joint and equal shareholders in our company. If for any reason that changes I will make sure you are informed and have the full facts.
Posting this is to show transparency and at the moment it is all rumour.

What happened to the spectrum they were told to give up as part of the merger conditions for it to go ahead? There was a rumour that Sky might be interested in this but were advised around £4 Billion would be needed to roll out a proper network

It's still on track to be relinquished on time.

£8bn did seem a little cheap for a company that's spending £1.5bn over the next three years on one (admittedly large) part of it's business.

The fact Olaf has come out and said that probably means they are in talks :P

I can't see FT selling up, DT possibly. However it's not like they are losing money like O2 or 3....

3 losing money, they aren't doing too bad as they are rapidly gaining customers? O2 UK is not doing as bad as the rest as the rest of Telefonica, O2 Germany is performing badly.

O2 will again catch up and be in front, maybe Everything Everywhere should invest money on customer service namely T-Mobile and Orange home broadband, this is where things go wrong on, philipino and indian call centres, very automated and unhelpful menu options and that new voice on T-Mobile 150 is awful. As for contacting T-Mobile online, you click on email us and it takes you back to the previous page, annoying!

T-Mobile is not like it used to be, even when Cable and Wireless owned it, the customer service based out of Hertfordshire was suprisingly quite good for a Cable and Wireless company, the price plans were good and any literature containing call costs ect..... was in plain english.

I keep seeing this criticism levelled against T-Mobile but I've never had an issue using the e-mail contact form - or even accessing it just to check every time I read about someone else having issues.
