Excellent sales, but I don't understand how Alexandra didn't do the same with Let It Go. Let It Go is the better song and Alexandra the better singer. Strange....

Let It Go isn't anywhere near as good as Call My Name. Cheryl got a shitload of promo (Graham Norton, The Voice, radio actually playing it etc) that and the fact its a good song is the reason it is doing well.

Well, she was very well promoted, and she does have a loyal fan base established, but I didn't expect those sales. In comparison to "Fight For This Love" & "Promise This", which I thought were better songs, I expected "ordinary" sales at being #1, being around 60,000 80,000. Those are impressive sales, although I'm not her biggest fan.

The public don't care how good the singers are for the most part.

Alexandra's song didn't do well if it wasn't played on the radio really.

Cheryl sold more than I expected! I don't like Call My Name very much, but I love her next single.

I've just watched the jubilee 'performance' for the first time - Good. God.

It's time to end the charts

Yes, without question Alex is a better singer - but Let It Go is not the better song.

Or maybe it's because it's Cheryl. The teenyboppers love Cheryl.

I actually think CMN is a better song but CMN isn't that better tbh...

With radio support, LIG would have got to the top 5 / if not #1 but I do agree that CMN is better.

but ye, politics stopped Alexandra's success - Cheryl has the politics on her side.

Let it go is a good song but Call my name is (in my opinion) a brilliant song..I love it!! the reason alexandra doesnt do well is because people dont like her as a person..She is too annoying, I did download HOH yesterday and it is a good album but I have lost all interest in her as a person because she is too big headed (annoying)

Cheryl has great PR, likability and performed on some of the most watched shows on TV and (jubilee aside) they were good performances (mimed or not!)

Alex - saw her on Loose Women, performing an acoustic version of the song. Forgettable.

152,000? Is that all? Thought she would easily beat the 292K she did for FFTL. She's bigger now than when she released her debut single.

Also why is 'Let It Go' being brought up here? 'Call My Name' is the better song, but it would be interesting to see how it had sold if wasn't spun to death by Capital etc.

Well promo and circumstances were very different. She was everywhere, and also used XF which was big. LIG is being brought up as they both have a connection to one another. 292K is massive. Hardly anyone sells that at all.

It's never been great and the vocals aren't applicable to cheryl. It's not a factor with her personality apparantly *shrugs*

I fail to see a connection between 'CMN' and 'LIG' .

Unless you mean Cheryl being Alexandra's mentor who taught her everything she knows.

Yeah the second bit. But not the very last bit...her mother did that Oh and they both released in the same month and are similar in performance style.

Excellent sales for Cheryl. She will take the US by storm at this rate.

Cheryl deserves the success. She may not be the best vocalist but she has the image and the personality that makes a great pop star.

Alexandra had bad luck with Let it Go as She wasn't given the A Playlist on Radio 1 and wasn't played on Capital FM which are huge radio stations that has a huge amount of young listeners.

At least Elephant got #3. I think she should release a third single and then release her fourth by the time X Factor live shows have started.

I think she chose not to as she has her debut tour in 2013 and will want to concentrate on that. I can see her releasing Call My Name there in summer 2013 though.
