Do people not realise what utter idiots they look like when using their iPad cameras in public.
Good examples here:

And why would you take an iPad to Disneyland??

If I had an ipad i'd probably take it to a beach, as you're there for hours and it's something to occupy the time with.

Why does anyone take a pic with any portable device?
Cant see what the problem is personally.

It's more amusing watching people cheer at lights being switched on!

I think that iPads can be petty useful; mine certainly is. But I do think using an iPad as a camera taking snapshots is a little silly.

I dont see the point in them myself, I need a portable device that allows me to type up notes/letters, catch up on emails and do some photoshop work while stuck on a train or just moving around. Ipad has no practical applications that I can use whatsoever!

i thought that, until i got one. i take mine most places, if i find myself having to wait around anywhere i can read a book, listen to music, surf the net, play games, read mail. also, it became a valuable diagnostic tool for me when i was able to go round and interrogate systems at work using it as a portable terminal and dialling in via a VPN network.

You can type up notes and check your emails with it.Not sure if you can photoshop though I dont need any kind of app like that.

No you cant! you have to be connected to internet, and there is no microsoft word for i-pad, anything else is a waste of time as you would have to cut and paste between devices for it to be effective

I've never used the camera on my iPad. I think calling people who do it idiots is a little harsh though!

iPad, it's an iPhone that won't fit in your pocket.

Well it is simple to connect to the internet out and about these days you know.

I dont think it is designed to be used as a computer, it is a portble device, you would not expect your mobile phone to have such applications either would you?

It must be irritating to have your view blocked by one of these things. The wedding example in the OP's link was outrageously selfish behaviour (probably staged to make the point).

You can get great bluetooth keypads set in a cover, they are great, just like a netbook for when you want to type a lot.

I use one for work, we use them for snagging, save writing them as you go round and typing it up when you get in. We can also take photos of the snag at the same time using the camera. It all synchs with the computers indoors and generates automatic reports to send to contractors. That's just one app that it's useful for. Most of the time though I use mine to faff on the inernet.

it's not too bad the longer you use it and get used to it.

I dont have a mobile... I had a growth removed from my brain last year. Out and about internet is prohibitively expensive and if you are in motion its patchy too so your applications would work only intermittently

It seems that there are a lot of misconceptions about the iPad, which is a shame as it is a very useful device.
