Gold membership no longer required for app?

I have recently discontinued my gold membership but today I tried some apps netflix, vevo, 4od and they are working on basic membership. Has microsoft announced this? Clealy they have realised it was a stupid situation to pay twice for neflix and only allow iplayer to be free.

Nope. Free Xbox LIVE Gold weekend. ends at 12PM June 18th,
Quote:
“all European gamers will have access to entertainment features that would usually be exclusive to Gold members, such as Sky, Lovefilm, blinkbox, 4oD, Demand 5, MuzuTV, Filmstarts, Youtube, DailyMotion, Canal+ and Allocine. Of course, there's also the additional bonus of access to multiplayer gaming.”

Why users should have to sub to xbox live to receive some of the apps is really unfare,i subscibe on 1 xbox but on the other i need to pay for a second just to watch just Netflix ,Microsoft really need to stop ripping people off, consoles like ps3,wii and other platforms are free to watch netflix and some other apps..

I have two xboxes as well. You can have your gold gamertag on both consoles, just not at the same time. Since the last dashboard update it used to take 5 mins plus to switch my gold gt between both consoles but now it takes under 20 secs when i log in.

xbox 1 slim, in sitting room for gaming
xbox 2 old jasper, in bedroom for iplayer, sky player, hd dvd etc

Well to be fair these companies should of stood up and said your not allowed to charge for our service. BBC did this with the IPlayer so there is no reason why MS would not bend over for the others.

The BBC didnt hold out over principle, they HAD to hold out as the BBC charter says that the service can only be charged for once, and as we pay for a tv licence allowing iplayer on xbox for only gold members wouldve been a second charge and a breach of the charter.
Im pretty sure that if the BBC were allowed to they wouldve allowed the gold only deal, especially if it meant theyd make some money out of it.

Doubt it. MS keep the gold subscription fee for themselves.
