There was a sweet I use to buy when I was a kid in the 70's.
It was approximately the size and shape of a pencil.
It had a spiral twist like a barley sugar.
The centre was hollow and filled with chocolate.
It was a pale brown colour.
Does this ring any bells with anyone ?
What was it's name ? Can you stil buy them ?

Sounds a bit like a chocolate lime but they are green on the outside.

I can't think of anything else. That's pretty much it
In your "spirabar" picture, the grooves are close together. In the sweet I'm thinking of, it was a much 'gentler' spiral (if you know what I mean !)

The outside part of the sweet was a hard, boiled sweet, kind of thing. Like barley sugar, but a light brown colour. The chocolate running down the centre was a dark chocolate. It was about six inches long.

I know exactly what you mean but can't think of the name. The spiral was more spaced out like a driil.

Was it individually wrapped, or was it a loose sweet, or was it in a jar? I can't remember it at all from your description, but I'll have a look. If it was wrapped, can you remember anything about the wrapping?

EDIT: Was it Trebor Chocstix? Here you go - pic. According to that blog, they're a 60s sweet. And according to this, the trademark for the name expired last year, so they can't be producing them any longer.

That's a Cadbury's Spira, which was from the early 90s I think. It was just pure chocolate, with a hollow centre.

Hey Andy, you're really into sweets and candies! How many threads have you started about them now? Are you writing a book or something?
