I think Louis Walsh has made The X Factor really entertaining. If he wasn't in it, it would be no where near as good as it has been. At first, I thought he was rubbish. Then I tried to imagine The X Factor without him and it was then I realised what a crucial element he actually is.

His bickering with Simon, his bad decisions, his friendship with Sharon and the way he constantly defends himself, no matter what, has really annoyed viewers, but at the same time, it's been one of the most entertaining parts of the show.

What do you think?

I wouldn't say he was 'great', but I suppose he has been a good person for the others to play with and off, during the show. As for his overall performance, I think he made his mistakes early on. Although ok, 'G4' and 'Two To Go' should never have been selected for the final three. He let too many better groups 'slip under the fence' and now it is showing - two acts now gone, and his remaining group was one of the contestants with the least votes last week and very bad betting odds!!!

Louis is an arrogant and immature arse, who thinks VWS had "Real Serrlllll" because they were loud, and Two To Go were a pop goldmine because one of them was blind. His playground arguments with Cowell have been hilarious. Plus, his stagey performances when having to "decide" who to send home would have stood out as wooden in a Sixth Form play.

Cowell, as much as he's hatable, has at least delivered objective judgements on each act.

There must be something wrong with a man who hides in a shower rather than tell a woman he can't have tea with her.

Although, I think I get where the argument of the original poster is coming from - would x-factor have been so entertaining without my increasing dislike of Louis - his faux pas, ridiculous statements, petty squabbling and rubbish song choice ? The answer is no. So yes, Louis does add something to x-factor if only as a figure of ridicule
