Hi,

I am having some trouble getting the desired response from the following equipment:

Sony Davsa30 DVD with built in surround (1 scart output + phono lead input for video and cable)

Sony widescreen tv (2 x scart)

Sony video (2xscart)

NTL cable (2 X Scart)

Seperate RF signal at present going straight to TV.

My proposed method (please tell me this will work!!!???)

Scart DVD to TV
Scart to 3 pin phono for video x2 to make the loop
Scart to 3 pin phono Cable to DVD.

This is the only way I can think of getting the surround sound working for all pieces of equipment?

Still don't know what to do with the RF, should this go to the video, tv or the cable box seems to have an RF input?

Any better suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for your help with this.

Hi there, welcome to the forum,

This is the classic set up for your kit:

For picture:
Cable TV out scart (RGB) to TV scart in (RGB) probably AV1
Cable VCR out scart to VCR in/out scart, this is AV2 on sony I think. This will allow recording to VCR from NTL and playback of VCR through NTL to TV.
DVD scart out to TV scart in AV2 if this supports RGB also. You could use S-video as Sony DVD/AMPs seem to have this. or you could leave in AV2 as composite, though not quite as good.

For sound:
DVD is fine as this is auto to your multichannel (5.1) set up.
Can link NTL and VCR separately to Sony Amp using red/white audio leads (this will give ProLogic). You could even use same type of leads to link TV (at the back) to amp giving surround (ProLogic) from your terrestrial TV signals.

Good luck,
Rgds,
Scorp
