Paul McCartney turning 70 today!
I would just like to wish a happy birthday to the man who got me interested in music in the first place!
Happy birthday Macca your music with or without the Beatles has cheered me up through the good times and bad, it's amazing to believe it's 50 years ago this year since the Beatles released "Love Me Do"!

On The Show that time Forgot, Mike Wallbank played 2 Beatles songs and a Wings song in honour of Sir Paul's 70th birthday. He did not play When I'm 64, perhaps appropriately!

He was born at 02:00 on 18 June 1942 to be precise, I had a look at some astrological websites, astrologers like to know a person's time of birth to do an accurate natal chart. Only half an hour to go!

Happy Birthday but don't you think it is time to ditch the hair dye? Tom Jones manages to look distinguished with his grey hair.

Happy Birthday Macca.
So Paul McCartney is 70 today, Brian Wilson will be 70 on Wednesday and Ray Davies will be 68 on Thursday. June is a very good month for musical geniuses! |

I have loved Paul and his music since I was twelve years old and first heard Please Please Me. Somehow I had missed out on hearing Love Me Do.
My dream in life is to actually see him in concert, the only trouble is that I am ill a lot now and don't know if I could cope with getting to a concert, and I certainly couldn't stand up all through one as they all seem to do these days. I have managed to see Ringo do a concert and they weren't standing up in that one, but I would imagine that they would for Paul. Paul and his music has made me so happy over the years and I have all his and the Beatles albums. Happy Birthday to you Sir Paul. May you and your new wife have a wonderful life together. |

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P0HV6...feature=fvwrel Best Wings album would have to be Venus and Mars with gems like these: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wyo_xGyVJuA http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4Pltr...feature=relmfu http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h0v_D...feature=relmfu http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BU_2oNF9CZE And the thing about McCartney is he doesn't always take subject matter deadly seriously. I love this one - always makes me smile - a great feel-good factor to it:: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IExOI120iUM And how's this for original: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8DUO530FpjY And an instrumental on almost every album. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AMJSncC6EhM http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oKUxlq6ZS_4 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kWLeG...feature=relmfu http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FvWePeE2oVw If I were to post all my favourites I'd be here all night! Been to see him live twice and let's just say that 3 hours wasn't enough time at all. So many great songs and not enough time to sing them all. The man is awesome!!! |

Wow I can see your a big fan! Are you a member of maccaboard.paulmccartney.com? It's true there are a lot of gems in Paul's Wings and solo catalog, here are two of my favourites from 1978 and 1979...

Daytime Nighttime Suffering has been added to Back to the Egg now. I can't say that it was one of my favourites but whenever I play Back to the Egg I can't help singing it to myself after I've played the album! The only album I really didn't like was McCartney II. Aside from Waterfalls I don't think there was a good track on it (no I didn't really like Coming Up either) - he seemed to change his whole style and try and be more "modern" - too punky sounding for me. Driving Rain by contrast was very melancholic but it did have some wonderful songs on it. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=30QEKL29lDk http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tlY7n6J7e_k http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JPSYGtskelw http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rDFLK6R-G5Y and of course, my favourite http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AMJSncC6EhM |

Happy(Belated) Birthday Sir Paul.
You are a true legend and your music has been with me all my life. Would play Junk, Mother Nature's Son or Beautiful Night, just a few that match the mood today. Thank you for all the music you have given us and hopefully still have left to give us. ![]() ![]()

Ronnie Wood Special with Paul McCartney. I'm reminded though of a Parkinson episode where he made up a song on the spot. Never heard it since but it was a beautiful song and I can't find it anywhere. Found this one though that I first saw on McCartney - The PETA concert for Party Animals years ago. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jO_U701wUqo |

What about One of These Days from McCartney II? The standout track on the album in my opinion. |

I love the version of Coming Up that he does with his current band. What about One of These Days from McCartney II? The standout track on the album in my opinion. It's been a long time since I've played it but I guess it's not too bad considering some of the others. Nobody Knows and Bogey Music aren't bad either but as for the rest This is definitely the best! even if (like Don't be careless) the key doesn't suit his voicehttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sYstxLoOnYA I always thought these should have been released as singles http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MvMD0z54GAw http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1IWBn...feature=relmfu http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tuERO9x32jM http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kzHkYUPf59s |

My favourite albums of Paul's are Flaming Pie and Chaos and Creation In The Back Yard. With Flaming Pie, I felt he was going back to his early Beatle roots. I think the ones I like the least (apart from McCarney II) are Press To Play, and his latest, Kisses On The Bottom, but then the latest is very different to anything else he has ever made and he only wrote one of them. It's great to chat with other Paul McCartney fans. |

I think Jenny Wren was a single though. Promise to You Girl is superb Quote:
It's funny, but I used to really love McCartney II and when it first came out I was playing it all the time. I hadn't played it for ages and a few months ago, my son, who is also a fan of Paul's, was looking through my albums and said that he didn't think he knew the tracks on McCartney II. We played it, and we both tbought it was pretty awful and by far the weakest of his albums. I can't imagine now what I liked about it. I wondered if it is just that music tastes have changed, but then, I still like his other early ones.
My favourite albums of Paul's are Flaming Pie and Chaos and Creation In The Back Yard. With Flaming Pie, I felt he was going back to his early Beatle roots. It's great to chat with other Paul McCartney fans. Least favourite is easily McCartney II, although like all his weaker albums it still has outstanding moments where his 'gift' shines through. He wrote My Valentine and Only Our Hearts on Kisses which for me are two outstanding McCartney tracks. The rest of the album is enjoyable but not anything really special. I hope the songwriting on the new album keeps up the great run he's been on since Flaming Pie. Great to chat to other Macca fans who appreciate the 42 years of great music after The Beatles! |

My OH had seen him 3 times already live but I saw him for the first time at the Royal Albert Hall this year, he was amazing. The venue was fantastic as well not a bad seat in the place, we were so close! And talk about a back catalogue.
