Will my Macbook run Final Cut Pro X?

Right, so I'm thinking of buying FCP X and taking up video editing. I have a 2010 13" Macbook Pro with the following specs:

Intel Core 2 Duo 2.66GHz
320GB hard drive
4GB RAM
256MB graphics card
Mac OSX 10.6.7

Will this thing be capable of running the current version of FCPX? I know I've to upgrade to 10.6.8 (don't want Lion) but will the rest be alright? Is a 64 bit processor necessary?

It will work if you upgrade Snow Leopard to the latest version. http://www.apple.com/finalcutpro/specs/

Rendering may be a little slow, but I have heard that the newer final cut pro renders in the back ground, not sure how it does that, but I doubt your machine would be fast enough for that.

Do you really need to start off with final cut, could you go for something else? I don't know what other video editing software is available on Mac apart from Adobe premier, but I am pretty sure there is a cut down version of final cut.

A friend of mine told me that final cut is a bit of a beast to get your head around, I use Vegas on windows and that is bad enough

I have used final cut a few times, and it confuses me sometimes.

Well it's just that I'm always talking about it and the new version didn't look too hard to use. The old FCP was the really complicated one. You used to be able to get Final Cut Express (which was a cut down version of FCP) but that was discontinued when FCPX came out. I'm sure I wouldn't have too much trouble learning it. All I'd need is a decent book. First thing I should do anyway is update my OSX to the latest version.

As much as i hate to say it, You Tube is pretty good for Tutorials, it have help me a lot with Vegas.

we had a look at a video of the new version of FCP and I tend to agree with you it does look easier than the older versions.

Can you get a evaluation of FCP?

Trials are always worth looking for. Much better than opinions on the internet!

I've also never had a problem with video/youtube tutorials. Much better than a book because you can see them actually doing it first hand.

I'll definitely give the trial version a try. It'll be worth it.
