Well obviously tennis is much more important than flooding, you're just supposed to sit there witth your feet in the water watching the tennis

Hope so, but it rather messes up the live coverage of the Olympic torch here in the East.
Still tennis is only once a year, how many times will we get to see the Olympic torch in the UK........oh yes, but of course it's not yet gotten to London, where the London-centric coverage of the BBC has priority, we don't matter out here in the regions.

Would it kill them to move Murray to BBC2? Not hard to switch channels is it?

Not like the BBC is a PSB that really should be showing the Regional News when many parts of the country are literally under water right now with much much worse to come for this particular area this evening is it?

And to make it worse, BBC Radio Newcastle are covering the frigging tennis as a lead story on its news, FFS!

Do you think we could complain to the Advertising Standards Agency that we're not getting the advertised service that we've paid for?

If anybody is underwater, then they're going to have far more to worry about than which channel the regional sodding news is on. Jesus. Why do we get this crap every bloody year?!

Looking at BBC one schedule tonight it's possible to show the regional news at 7.30pm after the One Show.

I guess in theory this will be the last time that the BBC News at Six will be moved to BBC TWO as after DSO is complete on October 24th everyone will have access to the BBC News channel. Although this will not solve the problem with regional news.

The Six O'Clock news is a major bulletin, so in circumstances like this it'd still get moved to BBC 2.

Yes but how does that fit in with the LIVE coverage of the end of today's torch relay on Look East?

Beats me, they just seem to think that people want to watch tennis, rather than know what's going on.

It's the stupid insistence that anything deamed to be of national importance should be on BBC1...Actually given Murray's nationalism that match should be moved to BBC Scotland. OK to move the 6.00 news to BBC2 but at this time when the north is virtually under water there really should be a local news programme at 6.30 which of course is impossible on BBC2. What a total shambles!

If Murray hadn't let Tsonga back into the match in the third set it might easily have been over before 6.00 then there wouldn't have been a problem.

God knows but that is the problem that faces the regions in England when the news is shifted to BBC TWO.

This thread is meant to be about Wimbledon, and not when the Regional News is on.

The tennis is more important than some farming show in Dartmouth.

Nothern Ireland, Scotland and Wales now have regional news on BBC TWO. While BBC TWO England is now showing Dan Snow's Norman Walks.

I predict that BBC one English regions will show regional news at 7.30pm.

Really angry now, once a year tennis, which could be shown on BBC2, is deemed more important than once in a lifetime, Olympic Torch coverage. Well done BBC, how you gonna make up for that.
Time machine anyone?

It's a Wimbledon schedule thread. Hence the detail is in the title

Freeview epg currently showing regional news on BBC1 from 18.30-19.00 as normal whilst BBC2 lists BBC News At Six as being on from 18.00-20.00!!

When the Regional News is on is relevant because the Regional News in England cannot be broadcast on BBC 2 due to the fact that BBC 2 on digital does not have regional variations in England. Tyne Tees is the only English region where digital switch-over has not begun.

Every years its the same. Why can they not stick to what is planned if its supposed to be on BBC2 stick it on BBC2. Not have it on BBC1 and then cancel the news and put some repeat on BBC2

No, this is about COVERAGE of Wimbledon, not the tennis itself. If you want to talk about the actual tennis go to the sports forum.

Here in the East we are missing the torch relay coverage in Chelmsford for something that could be moved over to BBC Two. local news, as we know, cannot be moved to another channel.

The Thread is about BBC Wimbledon Coverage, as the coverage is causing major unnecessary disruption to regional services it's perfectly valid to talk about it here.
According to the BBC complaints web page they are aware of the comments, and, if you complain, aim to have a reply to you within 14 days.
Really helpful.

Well, as usual the BBC have chased the ratings.

Utterly disgraceful behaviour.
